School History
The college was founded on September 9, 1783. Its predecessor was Carlisle Grammar School, which was established in 1773. It was the first college established after the independence of the United States. It was proposed by Benjamin Rush and named after John Dickinson. Both of them were signatories of the American Declaration of Independence.
Academic Education
Major Settings: The college offers 46 majors, covering many fields such as African Studies, Archaeology, Biomedicine and Molecular Biology, Business, Computer Science, etc. There are also 20 interdisciplinary majors, which can award Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees.
