History:
The origins can be traced back to 1963, when the Pennsylvania legislature passed the Community College Act of 1963 to allow the establishment of state community colleges.
In 1964, the Delaware County Higher Education Commission was established and surveyed local residents, which showed that people wanted to establish a community college in the area. The committee then established a special task force to determine the permanent location of the college. Finally, the Pennsylvania State Board of Education approved the establishment of Delaware County Community College in 1967.
