School History

The school was founded by Henry J. Heydt in 1933 and was originally named Lancaster School of the Bible. It was renamed to its current name in 1973.

In 1957, the college moved to its current location in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

In 1981, the Pennsylvania Department of Education officially approved the school to award a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies.

In 1994, its graduate school was approved to award Master of Arts degrees in the fields of Bible, Ministry, and Counseling, as well as Master of Education degrees such as School Counseling and Counseling Resource Teacher.

In 2012, Lancaster Bible College established a campus in Philadelphia in cooperation with the Center for Urban Theological Studies.
