History:

The college was founded in 1962 as Olympia Vocational Technical Institute, located in the old Montgomery Ward Building in downtown Olympia.

It then continued to grow and became Olympia Technical Community College in 1976, and was renamed South Puget Sound Community College in 1984 to reflect its continued progress.
