History
Salem University was founded in 1888 by the Seventh-Day Baptist Church.
In 1989, the school formed an alliance with Teikyo University in Japan and changed its name to Salem-Teikyo University.
In 2000, the school was acquired by investors from Singapore and renamed Salem International University.
In June 2005, Salem International University was acquired by Salem Education LLC.
In September 2017, the school was officially renamed Salem University.
