History:
The campus traces its roots to 1953 as the community college component of West Virginia State College (now the University). Originally named West Virginia State Community and Technical College, it was accredited in 2003, though it remains administratively affiliated with West Virginia State University.
In 2008, the community and technical college fully separated from West Virginia State University, but the two schools still share the same campus. In the fall of 2012, the campus moved to the site of a former Dow research facility in South Charleston. In 2009, the school was renamed Kanawha Valley Community and Technical College to distinguish it from West Virginia State University. Finally, in 2014, the South Charleston campus became an important part of the current BridgeValley Community and Technical College, formed through a merger with Bridgemont Community and Technical College in Montgomery.

Located in South Charleston, West Virginia, the specific address is 2001 Union Carbide Dr. The campus is located in the South Charleston Technology Park and occupies three buildings, namely Building 2000, Advanced Technology Center (also known as Toyota Hall) and Building 704.
