Jiangsu Police College is one of the first provincial public security undergraduate colleges in my country. The predecessor of the college was the Nanjing Public Security School founded in 1949. It was renamed the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security School in 1953. In 1982, it became the first public security college in the country and was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2002. Since 2012, it has successively co-organized master's degree graduate education with Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing University of Technology, and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. In 2021, it was approved as a master's degree awarding unit and a master's degree authorization point in police work. Since its establishment, the college has always adhered to the absolute and comprehensive leadership of the Party, fully implemented the Party's education policy, conscientiously implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, adhered to the first attribute of "being the Party" and the first characteristic of "being the police", kept up with the development of the times, and was determined to reform and innovate, giving full play to the role of Jiangsu Public Security Bureau as the "main channel" for the delivery of specialized talents, the "main position" for police training, the "main force" for police research, and the "mobile team" for police practical operations, and made positive contributions to the construction of a safe Jiangsu, a rule of law Jiangsu, and a "strong, prosperous, beautiful and high" new Jiangsu. In recent years, the Ministry of Public Security has twice awarded the college with the first-class collective merit, and the relevant provincial departments have awarded the college the honorary titles of "Jiangsu Civilized Unit", "Jiangsu Civilized School", "Jiangsu May 1st Labor Award" and so on. The main campus of the college is located at No. 48, Shifo Sangong, Pukou District, Nanjing City, and there are two other campuses, Andemen and Longtan. The campus covers an area of 670,000 square meters, and the building area of the school building is about 350,000 square meters. The college has teaching colleges and departments such as the School of Marxism, the Department of Public Security Management, the Department of Public Security Management, the Department of Investigation, the Department of Criminal Science and Technology, the Department of Computer Information and Network Security, the Department of Police Sports Teaching and Research (Department of Police Command and Tactics), the Department of Basic Courses Teaching and Research, the Department of Law and the Department of Graduate Education. There are 668 faculty members, 381 full-time teachers, 191 full-time teachers with middle and senior professional titles, 357 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees, 109 high-level talents such as experts subsidized by the Ministry of Public Security, the provincial "333 Project", and the "Six Talent Peaks", 8 provincial and ministerial teaching masters, and 11 provincial teaching and scientific research teams. There are 5,980 full-time undergraduates, 30 police master's students, 20 police international students, and about 3,000 students in adult education. The college adheres to the principle of building the police and the school with politics, upholds the school motto of "selfless dedication" and the school spirit of "political firmness, hard work, down-to-earth style, and strict police discipline", and strives to cultivate high-quality political and legal public security professionals who are loyal, reliable, disciplined, solid, and both civil and military. Since the reopening of the school in 1978, the college has trained and sent more than 60,000 professionals to the political and legal public security organs of the province, of which 80% have become the backbone and leading cadres of public security organs at all levels. In the past ten years, the proportion of graduates in the total police force of the province has remained at about 60%. More than 2,000 graduates have been commended for second-class merit or above, and nearly 100 have won the titles of first- and second-level heroes and models of the national public security system, national special excellent people's police, and national or provincial model workers. After years of development, the college has established a discipline and professional system with distinctive public security characteristics. The first-level discipline of "Public Security Studies" has been included in the Jiangsu Provincial University Advantage Discipline Construction Project, and has five provincial key disciplines, including public security technology, law, public management, national security, and cyberspace security. The college has 17 full-time undergraduate majors and has been approved for 21 national and provincial professional construction projects, including criminal science and technology and investigation science majors selected as national first-class undergraduate professional construction points, and 12 majors including investigation science, public security, public security management, criminal science and technology, economic crime investigation, foreign-related police, network security and law enforcement, traffic management engineering, law, police command and tactics, administrative management, computer science and technology, etc. have been selected as Jiangsu Province's first-class undergraduate professional construction points. There are 9 national first-class undergraduate courses, 23 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, and 3 provincial first-class courses for industry-education integration. There is 1 national virtual teaching and research room and 2 provincial excellent grassroots teaching organizations. There is 1 national college student practice education base construction project, 1 provincial industry-education integration key base construction point, and 6 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers (practical education centers). The Nanjing Chinese Fingerprint Museum, the Modern Police History Museum, and the Firearms Development History Museum have been built. The college adheres to the clear orientation of scientific research serving talent training, serving public security combat, and serving leadership decision-making. It has established 14 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms such as the Jiangsu Anti-Explosion Technology Engineering Laboratory and the Jiangsu Electronic Data Forensics Technology Engineering Research Center. In the past three years, 4 national projects and 49 provincial and ministerial projects have been approved. Focusing on the goal of promoting the construction of high-level public security think tanks, the Ministry of Public Security Modern Police Reform Research Institute and the Jiangsu Public Security Research Institute have been comprehensively strengthened. The construction of the "double think tanks" of the Ministry and the Province has been continuously improved. The service decision-making consulting capabilities have been achieved, and a large number of important results with promotion value have been achieved. The provincial think tank has won an excellent grade in the comprehensive assessment of the three-year construction of Jiangsu key think tanks, and the Jiangsu Public Security Research Institute has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Think Tanks in National Universities" in 2022. The college insists on open education, establishes good cooperative relations with public security organs at all levels, enterprises and institutions, and police education institutions at home and abroad, and conducts training for leading cadres of public security organs in cities and counties throughout the province and foreign police training all year round. In recent years, police delegations from more than 10 countries and regions have visited, and many internationally renowned experts and scholars have come to the school to give lectures. The college has been identified by the Ministry of Public Security as the organizer of the China-Europe Police Training Project. It has built three training bases of the Ministry of Public Security and actively carried out police education for international students. Entering the new era, the college takes Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guide, conscientiously studies and implements Xi Jinping's thoughts on the rule of law and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on public security work, education work, and Jiangsu work, and thoroughly studies and implements General Secretary Xi Jinping's important reply to the children of heroes and martyrs studying at the Chinese People's Public Security University. The spirit of the spirit, resolutely implements the party's education policy and the policies and guidelines of public security work in the new era, firmly adheres to the correct political direction of running schools, based on the new development stage, implements the new development concept, and serves the construction of a new development pattern. Focus on building a cradle for cultivating loyal guards, a think tank for studying modern police work, a platform for incubating police technology, and a base for forging a public security iron army, fully implement the fundamental tasks of cultivating morality and cultivating people, educating police and forging swords, and innovatively promotes high-quality development with connotation and characteristics, accelerates the construction of higher-level characteristic public security colleges, and strives to promote the modernization of Jiangsu public security education to be at the forefront, and better serve the new practice of Chinese-style modernization in Jiangsu and the modernization of public security work.
