Shandong Vocational College is a provincial public full-time general higher vocational college. It started as the Jinan Railway Machinery School founded in 1951. It was originally under the management of the Jinan Railway Bureau of the Ministry of Railways. It was upgraded to Jinan Railway College from 1958 to 1963. In 2000, it was approved by the provincial government to be rebuilt into Jinan Railway Vocational and Technical College. In 2004, it was directly managed by the Provincial Department of Education and renamed Shandong Vocational College in 2010.
