It was a school built by the state together with heavy equipment enterprises such as China Second Heavy Machinery, Dongfang Steam Turbine, and Dongfang Electric. From 1960 to 1962, in order to meet the construction needs of large state-owned enterprises such as the Second Heavy Machinery Manufacturing Plant, it was approved by the State Council to be renamed "Southwest Heavy Machinery and Electrical College" to train undergraduate students. In 1962, the First Ministry of Machinery Industry abolished the Southwest Heavy Machinery and Electrical College and restored the secondary technical school system. The school was renamed "Deyang Machinery Manufacturing School of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry". In 1965, the First Ministry of Machinery Industry transferred the school to the Second Heavy Machinery Plant and merged it with the factory-run part-time technical school. The school was named "Second Heavy Machinery Plant Part-time Intermediate Technical School". In 1973, the school was renamed "Deyang Machinery Manufacturing School" and was affiliated to the Sichuan Provincial Machinery Industry Department. In 1977, the school was renamed "Sichuan Deyang Machinery Manufacturing School". In 1982, the school was renamed "Sichuan Machinery Industry School". In 1999, the school added the school sign of "Sichuan Engineering and Technology School". In 1999, Sichuan Machinery Workers University moved to Sichuan Engineering and Technology School. In 2001, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the merger of Sichuan Machinery Industry Workers University and Sichuan Engineering and Technology School to establish Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College, which was affiliated to the former Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission. Sichuan Mechanical Industry Workers University, Sichuan Engineering and Technology School, and Sichuan Mechanical Industry School were abolished at the same time. In 2006, Deyang Education College was merged into Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College as a whole. As a result, the former Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission and Deyang Municipal People's Government implemented "provincial and municipal co-construction" for Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College. In 2006, the school was established as the first batch (28) of national demonstration higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. In 2019, the school was established as one of the 56 high-level higher vocational colleges with Chinese characteristics by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. In January 2024, the Ministry of Education issued a document agreeing to establish Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical University, and at the same time abolished the establishment of Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical College. ●School Profile Sichuan Engineering Vocational and Technical University is a public full-time vocational undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Deyang City, Sichuan Province, a "Chinese Major Technology Equipment Manufacturing Base" in the northeast of the Chengdu Plain, and is built on the banks of Jinghu Lake, a "model of Chinese living environment." The thousand-acre campus is built by the water, and the garden is built according to the situation. In 1960, Liu Shaoqi, an older generation of proletarian revolutionaries and then President of the People's Republic of China, proposed during his inspection of Deyang Industrial Zone that "schools should be built before factories, talents should be trained before products should be produced, and the integration of factories and schools should be implemented". For more than 60 years, the school has always kept in mind the Party's instructions, taken root in the western land, and worked closely with heavy equipment enterprises, accumulating a profound foundation for running schools and distinctive heavy equipment characteristics. It has cooperated with Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, 29 bases, China Second Heavy Industries, etc. to build four Sichuan Engineering Laboratories of "Aerospace Materials Testing and Die Forging Technology, High-temperature Alloy Cutting, Industrial Robots, and Advanced Manufacturing of Ramjet Engines" and Deyang (Siemens) High-end Equipment Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Center, Deyang Zhongke Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Incubation Center, Sichuan Agricultural Machinery Innovation Center, National Science and Technology Integration Center and other platforms. With the joint approval of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Department of Economics and Information Technology, and the Department of Education, it took the lead in establishing the "Sichuan Equipment Manufacturing Industry-Education Alliance". The school combines government, industry, academia, research and application, and jointly implements talent training, technology research and development, and social services. It has accumulated scientific research and technical service strengths that are ahead of similar colleges and universities in the fields of mechanical design and manufacturing, metal materials, intelligent equipment, and electronic information.
