Detailed introduction of University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien:
Introduction
University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien is the largest university of applied sciences in Austria, focusing on education and research in the fields of technology and digitalization, and providing students with high-quality, practice-oriented degree programs.
Overview
Number of students and faculty: It has about 4,400 students and a large number of professional faculty and staff. Since its establishment, there have been about 13,000 graduates.
Course Setting: 12 undergraduate majors and 18 master's degree programs are offered, covering biomedical engineering, business informatics, computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and robotics, etc. The courses are full-time, part-time and distance education.
History and Establishment Time
The school was established in 1994 and became the first university of applied sciences in Vienna in 2000.
School Strength
Faculty: It has a high-quality faculty team. The teachers not only have a solid academic background, but also have rich practical experience. They can provide professional guidance and support to students and help them combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
Scientific Research Achievements: The school has carried out in-depth research in many fields and has achieved a series of scientific research results. For example, in the field of automation and robotics, we have conducted research on projects such as Industry 4.0, 3D printing and bioplastics; in the field of embedded systems and information-physical systems, we focus on platforms and development tools for smart products, as well as the application of smart homes and assistive technologies.
International Exchange and Cooperation: We actively carry out international cooperation and have established cooperative relations with many universities in the world, providing students with broad international exchange and learning opportunities and broadening their international horizons. For example, we have carried out cooperative projects with universities such as China's Three Gorges University.
Nature of the institution
The school is a public-private partnership.
Educational philosophy
We emphasize solid scientific theories as the basis, focus on practice orientation, and are committed to cultivating students' practical ability and comprehensive quality, so that students can have solid professional knowledge and comprehensive quality in the fields of technology and digitalization to better adapt to the needs of society. At the same time, it focuses on close ties with the business community to provide students and graduates with good career development opportunities.
Key laboratories and disciplines
Key disciplines: Biomedical engineering, computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and robotics, business informatics and other disciplines are the key development disciplines of the school. In-depth and cutting-edge research has been carried out in these disciplines, and a series of important scientific research results have been achieved. Its graduate education is also mainly centered around these disciplines.
Key laboratories: Although key laboratories in the traditional sense are not explicitly mentioned, from the perspective of their research fields and projects, they are equipped with advanced research facilities and experimental conditions in related disciplines to support scientific researchers to carry out high-level research work, such as automation and robotics, embedded systems and other research directions, with corresponding experimental equipment and R&D platforms.
Faculty
The traditional faculty is not clearly divided, but from the perspective of discipline distribution, it is mainly concentrated in disciplines related to technology and digitalization. The various disciplines are cross-integrated and jointly promote the development of interdisciplinary research.
Ranking
The school is often rated as the "Best University of Applied Sciences" by Austria's largest industrial magazine, in 2015 and 2021. Ranked first in the annual ranking of Austrian universities of applied sciences in 2008 and its mechatronics engineering major ranked second in Austria.
Fees
Preparatory course: 7500 euros/year; 10000 euros/1.5 years (Spring Festival enrollment); 12500 euros/2 years.
Undergraduate stage: annual registration fee is about 750 euros.
Campus
The main campus is located at Höchstädtplatz 6, 1200 Wien in Vienna. In October 2008, a second campus was opened at the passive office building energy base in Floridsdorf, Vienna. In 2013, the full expansion of the main campus was completed.
