Introduction

Student size: The number of students admitted each year is limited. The maximum number of students in its Master of Laws program is only 38 per year to ensure intensive interaction and personalized support between students, professors and staff.

History and establishment time
MIPLC was established on March 17, 2003 by the George Washington University Law School, the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Munich. In October of the same year, it attracted students from eight countries on five continents. In August 2004, the first class of 13 students graduated and received the "Master of Laws" degree from the University of Augsburg.
School Strength
Faculty: There are more than 60 teachers in service, most of whom are tenured professors and researchers from partner institutions or other famous universities, such as Oxford University, London School of Economics, University of California and Columbia University, etc. There are also lawyers working in internationally renowned law firms, intellectual property officials of the European Patent Office or the World Intellectual Property Organization, judges and practitioners in the field of corporate intellectual property. Members of the MIPLC Management Committee teach at least one course every academic year.
Teaching Resources: Students have access to the Intellectual Property Library of the Max Planck Institute, which has a collection of more than 200,000 books, as well as MIPLC's own library, and can also use legal databases such as LexisNexis, Westlaw and Juris.
