Introduction and Overview
Hellenic Open University is the only online/distance education university in Greece, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses to meet students' needs for continuing education and lifelong learning.
History and Establishment
The university was established in Patras in 1992, but did not start operations until the relevant operating act was promulgated in 1997, and the first batch of students was admitted in 1999.
Strength of School
Faculty: It has 1,995 academic staff and 202 administrative staff to provide professional teaching and support for students.
Academic Research: All colleges actively carry out research work. For example, in the School of Science and Technology, teachers conduct research in the fields of physics, biology, chemistry, etc., and are supported by postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students.
International Cooperation: It has established a cooperation network with many domestic and foreign academic and research institutions such as the Open University of Cyprus, the University of Nicosia, and the Free University of Brussels, and has carried out cooperation such as joint postgraduate degree programs.

Key laboratories and disciplines
Key laboratories: The School of Science and Technology has physics laboratories, biology laboratories, chemistry laboratories, digital systems and media computing laboratories, software quality research laboratories, and converged network and service research groups.
Key disciplines: It has certain advantages and characteristics in disciplines such as European studies, Greek civilization studies, Spanish language and civilization, applied developmental psychology, adult education, English teaching, environmental design, tourism enterprise management, and health care management.
Faculty
There are four colleges, namely the School of Humanities, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Science and Technology, and the School of Applied Arts and Sustainable Design. Among them, the School of Applied Arts and Sustainable Design only offers graduate degrees, and the other three colleges offer undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Fees
Tuition fees for undergraduate courses generally range from a few hundred euros to more than a thousand euros per semester. Tuition fees for postgraduate courses vary depending on the major. For example, the tuition fee for Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses is relatively high, about 2,000 euros per semester.
Campus Environment
The Greek Open University does not have a campus in the traditional sense, and teaching and learning are mainly carried out through online platforms. The school's headquarters in Patras covers an area of 11,750.88 square meters, which is used for administrative offices, course production, etc.
