National Technical University of Athens is the oldest and most prestigious institution of higher education in science and engineering in Greece. It is located in Athens, Greece and offers undergraduate and graduate courses.

History and Establishment

The school was founded in 1836 and was originally named the Royal Academy of Arts as a part-time vocational school. It was upgraded to a full-time technical school in 1840, renamed the Athens Polytechnic in 1862, and moved to its current location in 1873 and renamed the National Technical University of Athens.

Campus Environment

Architectural Style: The main campus is located on Patission Avenue in the center of Athens and has a set of magnificent neoclassical buildings designed by architect Lysandros Kaftantzoglou. In addition, the Zografou campus built in the 1980s is a modern architectural style.
