Introduction

The American University of Nigeria is a private university located in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, Nigeria. It provides American-style liberal arts higher education at undergraduate, graduate and professional levels. It is the first American-style university in sub-Saharan Africa.

History and Establishment

The school was founded in 2003 by former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, construction began in 2004, and the first batch of students was welcomed in 2005. In 2007, the school was renamed the American University of Nigeria. In 2008, the school's curriculum was accredited by the Nigerian National University Commission and again in 2013. In 2012, the school launched a master's degree program in information technology administration. In 2014, the school opened the Robert A. Pastor Library and e-Learning Center.

Teaching Resources: The school has modern teaching facilities, such as the Robert A. Pastor Library and e-Learning Center, which has a digital collection of more than 250,000 volumes.

International Exchange: As a member of the Global Liberal Arts Alliance, the school cooperates and exchanges with universities and institutions around the world, providing students with a broad international perspective and exchange opportunities.

Campus Environment

Main Campus: Located on the southern ring road of Yola, the campus is beautiful and modern, consisting of 16 buildings, including 9 comfortable dormitory buildings, a spacious cafeteria, a large graduation ceremony hall, an administrative building, the College of Arts and Sciences Building, and the Peter Okocha Building (where the School of Law is located).

North Campus: Located across the street from the main campus, it was once a temporary campus with a fully equipped teacher village and community development center.

Campus Facilities: All buildings are fully equipped with air conditioning and modern facilities, the entire campus has wireless network access, and dormitories provide security personnel, clean tap water and cable TV.
