Introduction

Lead City University was established in 2005 and is a private university accredited by the Nigerian National University Commission. Its motto is "Knowledge for Self-Reliance".

History and Establishment

In 2002, the university submitted an application to the Nigerian National University Commission. In August and September 2003, the Standing Committee on Private Universities conducted verification and final evaluation visits respectively. In December 2003, the university was approved by the National University Commission for "Immediate Commencement" and approved by the Federal Executive Council on February 16, 2005. On March 7, 2005, the University's Board of Trustees and Council held a special meeting and decided to change its name to "Lead City University".
