Introduction
The University of Uyo is a federal university in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, dedicated to promoting academic excellence and sustainable development through teaching, research and community service.

History and establishment time
The University of Uyo was established on October 1, 1991. It inherited the students, faculty, academic courses and all facilities of the Cross River State University established in 1983 by the then Cross River State Government. Its predecessor has undergone several transformations from Teachers College (TC) to Advanced Teachers College (ATC) and College of Education (COE). The College of Education later became an affiliate of the University of Port Harcourt, offering degree courses, and then became the State University of Cross River (UNICROSS). In 1991, it became the current University of Uyo.

Teaching Facilities: The library has 46,745 books and handles about 409,977 borrowings and reference consultations each year. The library is equipped with modern computers and has a reading space of 970.51 square meters, which can accommodate 698 people. The school also has a radio station, Uniuyo FM (100.7MHz).
