History
In 1902, it was established as Khartoum Technical School and Business School during the colonial period of Sudan.
The School of Radiology was established in 1932, and the School of Design was established in 1946. In 1950, the above colleges merged with the Khartoum Technical School to form the Khartoum Technical College.
In 1954, the Shambhatt Agricultural College, in 1962 the Khartoum Higher Trade School, and in 1969 the School of Music and Drama and the Higher Institute of Physical Education were successively incorporated. In 1975, it was renamed Khartoum Polytechnic.
In 1990, it officially became Sudan University of Science and Technology.

Faculty: It has 2,500 permanent faculty and staff.
Student size: 72,000 undergraduates, 11,000 postgraduates, and 260 doctoral students.

There are many colleges: there are more than 20 colleges including the College of Engineering, the College of Petroleum Engineering and Technology, the College of Water and Environmental Engineering, the College of Architecture and Planning, the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, the College of Medicine, the College of Dentistry, and the College of Pharmacy.
Rankings
Ranked 18th in the QS World University Rankings in May 2021.
In the July 2021 and January 2022 classifications of international universities and research institutes in webometrics, it ranked first among Sudanese universities.
Cost: There is no exact public data, but as a public university, the tuition fees are usually relatively low, which may be similar to other public universities in Sudan.
Campus Environment
Campus Distribution: There are 10 campuses in Khartoum State, and the main campus is located in the Muglan area of Khartoum, at the confluence of the White Nile and the Blue Nile.
Complete Facilities: The library system is complete, and each campus has a library with a variety of materials such as books, e-books, academic journals, etc. It has the only physical education college in Sudan, and the sports facilities are open to students, faculty and the public.
