History: Its history can be traced back to the Surveying Training Center established in 1956, which mainly trains land surveyors. In 1972, it was renamed Ardhi Institute and offers three diploma courses in land surveying, real estate management and valuation, and town planning. In 1975, the course was upgraded to an advanced diploma. In 1981, three advanced diploma courses in architecture, quantity surveying and environmental engineering were opened. In 1997, it became a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam and was renamed the University College of Land and Building Studies. In 2007, it officially became an independent Adi University.
