Ningbo University of Finance and Economics is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, a national historical and cultural city and a modern international port city. It is a local applied undergraduate university with economics and management as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, management, engineering, literature, and art. The school was founded in 2001, approved as a general undergraduate university in 2008, and became one of the first pilot demonstration universities for applied undergraduate construction in Zhejiang Province in 2015. In 2016, it was awarded the title of "National Private University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Demonstration School". In 2018, the original name "Ningbo Dahongying College" was changed to "Ningbo University of Finance and Economics". The university currently has three campuses, including the headquarters campus, Hangzhou Bay campus, and Xiangshan campus, covering an area of more than 1,700 acres and a building area of 780,000 square meters. It has teaching units such as the School of International Economics and Trade, the School of Finance and Information, the School of Business Administration, the School of Wealth Management, the School of Digital Technology and Engineering, the School of Humanities, the School of Art and Design, the Xiangshan Film and Television College, the Basic College, the School of Marxism, the School of Adult Continuing Education, the School of International Education, and the Public Cultural and Sports Department. It has 42 undergraduate majors and nearly 20,000 full-time undergraduate students. It has more than 1,000 faculty and staff, of which 89.89% are teachers with master's degrees or above, 37% are teachers with associate senior degrees or above, and 48.46% are teachers with dual qualifications and dual abilities. There are more than 100 high-level talents such as the provincial 151 talents, provincial college leaders, provincial young and middle-aged discipline leaders, provincial teaching masters, and municipal leading talents. There are currently 4 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 7 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 provincial emerging specialty majors, and 7 advantageous key majors. There are 5 national first-class undergraduate courses and 127 provincial first-class courses; there are 3 provincial first-class disciplines and 4 municipal key disciplines. In the past five years, 200 vertical scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels have been approved, including 21 national social science fund projects; 8 provincial and ministerial awards such as the Provincial Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences have been won, and 21 advisory reports have been approved by provincial and ministerial leaders. 83 projects of industry-university cooperation and collaborative education of the Ministry of Education have been established, 26 provincial and municipal teaching achievement awards have been won, and students have won more than 1,800 national competition awards. Based on the development needs of regional economy, society, new industries and new formats, the school deepens the integration of industry and education under the guidance of the value of "double innovation", and continues to carry out a series of reforms in the cultivation of high-quality applied talents. It has co-built and co-managed 7 modern industrial colleges or professional specialty colleges such as the Commodity Business School and the Great Wall Business School with enterprises, continuously improved the "dual-college system" collaborative education model, and obtained 1 modern industrial college with provincial key support. It is the first among similar universities in the country to establish a physical entrepreneurship college that integrates schools and enterprises, the first to set up an undergraduate major in entrepreneurship management, and the creation of a business model laboratory (BM-Lab) that has been rated as a national and provincial mass innovation space, building a multi-level entrepreneurial education system, and forming a pattern of cultivating application-oriented talents that integrate specialization and innovation; cooperating with high-tech enterprises to create a new space for smart learning, continuously promoting innovative reforms in classroom teaching, deepening the construction of curriculum connotation, and implementing intelligent monitoring of classroom teaching based on curriculum standards to promote the improvement of teaching effectiveness; implementing a full-time tutor system, with students of all grades forming a scroll-type vertical academic growth class, and a leading tutor team to help students grow academically; implementing an incentive plan for the growth of outstanding talents, setting up personalized training programs and honorary degrees, and helping outstanding students develop. The school continues to refine the direction of discipline development, build a high-level discipline platform, and actively provide technical services and intellectual support to industry enterprises through interdisciplinary integration and collaborative innovation between industry, academia and research; facing the needs of regional small and medium-sized enterprises and emerging industries, focusing on the research fields of commodity circulation, innovation and entrepreneurship of small and medium-sized enterprises, family wealth management, financial big data technology, cultural relics protection and cultural heritage, new generation of electronic information technology, cultural communication and visual system design, film and television production and film and television industry management, and strive to create advantageous and distinctive disciplines. The Digital Economy and Open Economy Integration Innovation Research Base and the Regional Industry Innovation Research Base were approved as Zhejiang Province Soft Science Research Bases; the International Business Graduate Joint Training Practice Base jointly built with Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics and others was listed as a Gansu Province Graduate Joint Training Base; in 2022, the school won the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Promotion Award. The school has established long-term and stable inter-school exchange and cooperation relations with more than 50 universities and institutions at home and abroad; cooperated with Northern Arizona University in the United States, University of South Wales in the United Kingdom, University of Economics and Management in Bratislava, Slovakia, János Kodorani University in Hungary, Dongseo University in South Korea, James Cook University Singapore Campus, City University of Macau and other universities to organize various credit recognition and short-term exchange programs; the "China-Slovakia Silk Road College" jointly established with the University of Economics and Management in Bratislava, Slovakia was selected as the first batch of "Belt and Road Silk Road Colleges" in Zhejiang Province; and jointly established the "Slovakia Education and Research Center" and "Ningbo-Central and Eastern Europe Student Film and Television Alliance" with Central and Eastern European cooperative universities and institutions; hundreds of teachers and students participate in foreign exchange students, exchange student programs, and further studies and visiting activities every year; actively organize and host various international conferences at all levels every year, and the models and types of international scientific research cooperation show a diversified development trend.
