Introduction

The University of Luxembourg is the only public university in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is an international research university with distinctive multilingual and interdisciplinary characteristics, providing students with a multicultural learning experience.

History

The University of Luxembourg was founded in 2003, but the history of its predecessor institutions can be traced back more than a hundred years ago, especially in the field of engineering. It is a merger of four educational and research institutions: the Luxembourg University Center, the Institute of Advanced Technology, the Higher Institute of Educational Research and the Institute of Social Research in Education.
