The University of Marburg, also known as Philipps University of Marburg, is a public university located in Marburg, Hesse, Germany. It is also the second Protestant university in the world. It has a long history of nearly 500 years and is one of the oldest universities in Germany.

History
Founding background: In 1527, under the background of the religious reform advocated by Martin Luther, Count Philip I of Hesse-Kassel ordered the establishment of a Protestant church university in Marburg.
Important development stage: At the beginning of its establishment, there were only 11 professors and 84 students, and the old site of the monastery in the city was used as the school building. After the Austro-Prussian War in 1866, Hesse was annexed by Prussia, and the school ushered in rapid development, with a significant increase in the number of students and a continuous expansion of the campus.
