In 1946, the State School of Architecture and the State School of Arts and Crafts officially reopened in the auditorium of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz as the successor institution of the State School of Architecture and the State School of Arts and Crafts. In 1971, the University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Palatinate was established, and in 1996 the University of Applied Sciences Mainz was re-established as an independent university.
