Southeast University Chengxian College was founded in 1998 and was renamed to its current name in 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is an independent college established by Southeast University, a key "985" and "211" university, with a brand-new school-running concept and operation model to train ordinary full-time undergraduate students. It is an important part of Southeast University's development and an important window for it to cultivate high-level applied talents and serve the country and social and economic development. The school has independent legal person status, an independent campus, and relatively independent teaching management. Professor Xing Jihong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, serves as the chairman and legal representative of the Board of Directors, Professor Zhong Wenqi, vice president of Southeast University, serves as the vice chairman of the Board of Directors, and Professor Xing Jihong serves as the dean of the college. In March 2012, the school successfully completed the registration of a public institution legal person and became the first independent college in Jiangsu Province to complete the pilot registration of a public institution legal person. The school is located in the Pukou Campus, the undergraduate teaching base of Southeast University, in Jiangbei New District, Nanjing. There are 7 colleges (departments) including the School of Architecture and Art Design, the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering, the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, and the Basic Department, 11 party and government management departments, and 2 directly affiliated units. There are more than 30 undergraduate majors, covering multiple disciplines such as engineering, economics, management, medicine, and art. There are more than 10,000 teachers and students. The campus is beautiful, tree-lined, and pleasant, making it an ideal place for students to cultivate themselves and study. The school has a modern library and various advanced laboratories, with complete school facilities and convenient and fast life services. The school building area is nearly 300,000 square meters, with three college-level public experimental centers and a metalworking practice base, including the Computing Center, the Physical Experiment Center, and the Electrical and Electronic Experiment Center. All majors have comprehensive laboratories. The library has a collection of nearly 1.1 million books and shares all the electronic book resources of Southeast University. It is the independent college with the largest number of majors and students included in the second batch of undergraduate enrollment in the country. The school has a first-class teacher management team with experts and professors from Southeast University as the core.
