Marie Curie-Sklodowska University is located in Lublin, Poland. It is the largest comprehensive public university in eastern Poland and is named after the famous scientist Marie Curie.

The university was founded on October 23, 1944 by the Lublin Committee during World War II. Initially, it consisted of four faculties: medicine, agriculture, veterinary medicine and life sciences. In 1949, the Faculty of Law was established. In 1950, the Faculty of Medicine became independent and became the Medical University of Lublin. In 1955, the Faculty of Agriculture became the University of Life Sciences of Lublin. In the 1950s, the Faculties of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences, Languages and Economics were established. In the 1960s and 1970s, the campus expanded rapidly. In 1969, a branch was opened in Rzeszów. In 2001, the branch was merged with other institutions to form the University of Rzeszów. In 1989, due to the collapse of communism in Poland, most of the faculties were reorganized. In 2014, a branch was opened in Puławy.
