Introduction

The Prague University of Economics and Business is the leading professional economics university in the Czech Republic. It is the largest in the fields of economics, business, and informatics. It is an AACSB, EPAS, and EQUIS accredited university and a member of CEMS, the European Global Management Education Alliance.

History

In 1919, Vysoká škola obchodní ("Business School") was established as a department of the Czech Technical University in Prague, specializing in wholesale trade, banking, and the organization of industrial companies.

In 1949, Vysoká škola politických a hospodářských věd (University of Political Economy) was established.

In 1953 In 1989, after the Velvet Revolution, the university underwent major reforms. In 2020, the international name of the University of Economics in Prague was changed to the University of Economics and Business in Prague. Founded in 1953, its origins can be traced back to 1919. Key disciplines: Economics, econometrics, finance, business management, international trade and other disciplines are the school's advantageous disciplines, and have achieved remarkable results in teaching and scientific research. Among them, the School of Business Administration has obtained EQUIS certification, making it the first business school in the Czech Republic and the fourth in Central and Eastern Europe to obtain this certification. Its CEMS Master of Management program ranks 14th in the world in the 2021 Financial Times ranking.
