Zhengzhou Electric Power College is a general college jointly built by the central and local governments, organized by the power industry, and focusing on electric power vocational education. It is an important training base for electric power technical and skilled talents in the central and southern regions. The school has a 90-year history of running schools. Its predecessor, Henan Provincial Zhengzhou Workers School (later renamed Henan Provincial Zhengzhou Senior Industrial Vocational School), was founded in 1933. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was run in Chimei Town, Neixiang County for 8 years and has undergone 18 name changes. In 1953, the national colleges and departments were adjusted. Based on Zhengzhou Senior Industrial Vocational School, the motor departments of six senior industrial schools in five provinces in central and southern China were incorporated to establish the Zhengzhou Electric Power School of the Ministry of Fuel Industry. Afterwards, it went through the development stages of Henan Electric Power College, Zhengzhou Electric Power College, and Zhengzhou Electric Power School. In 1994, Zhengzhou Electric Power College was established. The school currently has two campuses, Zhengzhou Electric Power College and Skill Training Center, covering an area of 800 acres and a building area of 299,900 square meters. It has more than 30 majors covering five major professional fields: smart grid, green power generation, smart manufacturing, information communication, and digital commerce. The school has the Henan Power Plant Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Engineering Technology Research Center, the Henan Power Smart Supply Chain Engineering Research Center, the Henan University Power Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Engineering Technology Research Center, the Zhengzhou Power Energy Efficiency Intelligent Management Engineering Technology Research Center, the Zhengzhou Power Materials Engineering Technology Research Center, the Zhengzhou Power Internet of Things Engineering Technology Research Center, the Zhengzhou Power Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center, the Zhengzhou Power Boiler Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Key Laboratory, and the Zhengzhou Smart Internet of Things Transmission and Distribution Joint Innovation Key Laboratory. The school has successively been awarded the first batch of double-high construction colleges in Henan Province, the first batch of modern apprenticeship demonstration colleges, the first batch of demonstration colleges for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, the first batch of international characteristic college construction units, the first batch of demonstration production-education integration schools, and Henan Province's high-skilled talent training demonstration base; it is listed in the Secretariat Office of the National Electric Power Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, the Experimental School of the Institute of Vocational and Technical Education Center of the Ministry of Education, the Chinese and Foreign Cultural Exchange Research Institute of the Electric Power Industry, the Quality Improvement and Excellence Office of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, the Central China Branch of the State Grid Corporation's Confidentiality Education Base (the only higher vocational college in the Central Plains that undertakes the confidentiality education function of central enterprises), the Zhengzhou Branch of the State Grid Technical College, the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company Ideological and Political Work Research Center, and the Youth Horse Research Center; it was rated as an A-level employment unit by the Ministry of Education and a typical case school for employment and entrepreneurship of college graduates nationwide, and won the national party building work benchmarking department construction unit, the national model party branch, the provincial model party branch, the State Grid Vocational Education and Skilled Talent Team Construction Advanced Collective, Henan Province Poverty Alleviation Advanced Collective, State Grid "Serving Poverty Alleviation Advanced Collective", Henan Civilized Campus, and May 1st Labor Award. It took the lead in establishing the Henan Electric Power Vocational Education Group and the Henan Energy Power and Materials Vocational Education Group (one of the 20 backbone vocational education groups in the province), established the first overseas education project at the junior college level in the country, the "China-Nepal Electric Power Silk Road College", established the China-Pakistan and China-Mongolia Electric Power Silk Road Colleges, took the lead in establishing the "Belt and Road" Electric Power Silk Road College Alliance, and was selected as the first batch of pilot colleges for the China-Germany Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Project; established an international Chinese teacher training base, and exported 10 international professional standards, curriculum standards and job standards to Tanzania, Ethiopia and other countries. It is the pioneer, forerunner, leader and demonstrator of the opening up and cooperation and exchange of Chinese power industry colleges.
