Liaocheng University Dongchang College was founded in 2002 and was established as an independent college in 2005 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Liaocheng Education College and Liaocheng Normal School, which have a century-old history of running schools, were merged into Liaocheng University Dongchang College. The school is jointly organized by Liaocheng University and the state-owned enterprise Liaocheng Caixin Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. In April 2021, it successfully passed the verification of the Shandong Provincial College Establishment Committee and is planned to be converted into "Liaocheng Institute of Technology". The school has been awarded the titles of "Shandong Provincial Garden Unit", "Shandong Provincial Advanced Unit for the Protection of Ancient Books", "Shandong Provincial Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Inheritance Base", "Shandong Provincial Demonstration Base for Family Service Vocational Training", "Shandong Best Social Reputation University", "Shandong Safety Research and Popular Science Base", "Shandong Best Brand Influence University", etc. The school recruits ordinary undergraduate and junior college students from the society, and the students come from 28 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country. At present, there are 12 departments (divisions), including the Chinese Department, the Economic Management Department, the Foreign Languages Department, the Education Department, the Mathematics and Information Engineering Department, the Film and Television Media Department, the Chemistry and Biology Department, the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department, the Music Department, the Art Design Department, the Physical Education Department, and the Marxism Teaching Department. There are 34 undergraduate majors and 10 junior college majors, and the majors are mainly engineering, covering economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management, art and other disciplines. In 2021, the major of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation was approved as a first-class undergraduate major construction site in Shandong Province. The school is located in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, a water city in the north of the Yangtze River with rich humanities and beautiful scenery. It is located on the banks of the beautiful Tuhai River and covers an area of 1,011.38 acres. The first phase of the campus has a construction area of 337,300 square meters, with a total investment of 2.55 billion yuan. It is listed as a key implementation project in Shandong Province in 2021. The school building construction is based on the theme of canal culture, highlighting the characteristics of digitalization, intelligence and academy. The overall structural layout of "one center, two colleges, one ring and two axes" is adopted to highlight the characteristics of science and engineering universities, and is committed to creating an ideal and comfortable teaching and living environment for teachers, students and staff. There are teaching buildings, laboratory buildings, libraries, dormitory buildings, talent apartments, restaurants, gymnasiums, weatherproof playgrounds, college student activity centers, science halls, engineering training centers, etc. It has modern teaching infrastructure such as smart classrooms, large computer network classrooms, voice rooms, and various laboratories. The total value of the school's teaching and scientific research equipment is 136 million yuan, and it has a collection of 769,500 paper books. The school library is one of the first national CALIS (China Higher Education Document Assurance System) member libraries. It currently has 1,340 Ming and Qing thread-bound ancient books, and the collection of ancient books has been successfully selected into the "List of Precious Ancient Books in Shandong Province". The school has a strong faculty and has formed a faculty team with a reasonable structure, high teaching level and experience, and strong scientific research capabilities. There are 479 teachers, of which 82.08% have master's and doctoral degrees, and 32.19% have senior professional titles. Among the external teachers, industry enterprises account for nearly 50%. There are currently 2 outstanding teachers in Shandong Province, 18 outstanding teachers in Liaocheng City, 3 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Liaocheng City, 1 Xianlin Scholar, 5 Xianlin Scholar Young Experts, and 3 high-end scientific and technological talents in Liaocheng Think Tank. The school is committed to cultivating high-quality applied talents, actively exploring the collaborative education model of schools, local governments, and enterprises, and continuously deepening the integration of industry, academia, research, and education. The school currently has 4 majors that have achieved professional co-construction and joint training with Qingdao Qingruan Technology Co., Ltd. and Shandong Hengbang Education Co., Ltd. Deepen cooperation with associations (parks) such as the Shandong Translation Association, Shandong Family Service Industry Association, and Reed (Qingdao) E-commerce Industrial Park, and build a development platform with the help of external advantageous resources to drive the leapfrog improvement of disciplines and majors and help integrate industry and education. Signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with well-known companies such as Qingdao Qingruan Group and Jinan Sunshine Sister, and built 69 off-campus internship and training bases, giving full play to the resource advantages of both parties, and cooperating well in teaching practice research, student internships, and other aspects. In the next five years, the school's scale of operation will reach and stabilize at about 15,000 people, and it will be successfully transferred to "Liaocheng Institute of Technology". We strive to successfully pass the undergraduate teaching work qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education, and build a high-level application-oriented undergraduate university with distinctive characteristics and serving regional economic and social development.
