Nanjing Forestry University is a high-level research university with forestry as its advantage, serving the national ecological civilization construction as its guide, and coordinating the development of multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, agriculture, literature, management, economics, law, and art. The school is a national "double first-class" construction university, a Class A construction university of Jiangsu Province's high-level university construction peak plan, and a university jointly built by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Education, and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. The predecessor of the school can be traced back to the Agricultural Museum Department of Sanjiang Normal School in 1902 and the Agricultural Department of Jinling University in 1914. In 1952, the colleges and departments of colleges and universities across the country were adjusted, and the Forestry College of Nanjing University (formerly the Forestry College of National Central University) and the Forestry College of Jinling University were merged to form Nanjing Forestry College, which was one of the only three higher forestry colleges in the country at that time.
