Introduction and Overview

Near East University is a private university located in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. It is the largest university in Northern Cyprus, providing education for about 25,000 students from more than 143 different countries. It has 20 colleges, 6 institutes, 5 graduate schools and 32 research centers, offering 196 undergraduate, 240 master's and doctoral degree programs.

History and Founding Time

The university was founded in 1988 by Suat Günsel in North Nicosia. It initially had only two colleges and then gradually grew and expanded.

School Strength

Faculty: It has 1,200 academic staff and 1,050 administrative staff.

Scientific Research Achievements: It has a supercomputer ranked 13th in the world and first in the region, which is used to provide research assistance to Turkish universities, and has participated in the "Help Conquer Cancer" project and the Large Hadron Collider experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research. In 2014, it also joined the research on the treatment of Ebola virus disease. The research team built the country's first locally produced car, the RA 25.
