Applied Technology College of Soochow University is located in Zhouzhuang, Kunshan, China's first water town. It is located in the "Yangtze River Delta Regional Integration Development" zone, 20 kilometers away from the Dushu Lake Campus of Soochow University. It is adjacent to Shanghai in the east and Suzhou in the west. It is adjacent to Suzhou Industrial Park, Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Huaqiao International Business City and Wujiang High-tech Development Zone. The campus has a beautiful environment, fresh air, and first-class facilities. It embodies the architectural style of "small bridges, flowing water, and academies" and is an ideal place for students to study. The college was established in November 1997. It was organized by Soochow University, which was one of the first batch of universities listed in the national "211 Project" and "2011 Plan" and jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government as a "double first-class" university. In 2005, it was restructured into an independent college at the undergraduate level. The college has 31 undergraduate majors, among which the two majors of Fashion Design and Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Automation were rated as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points. There are more than 9,000 students on campus, more than 60% of whom hold senior professional titles in various courses, and more than 80% of them are dual-qualified professional teachers. Among them, there is one excellent teaching team of Jiangsu Province Qinglan Project, two young and middle-aged academic leaders, and 10 excellent young backbone teachers. The college adheres to the century-old tradition of Suzhou University, adheres to the school-running philosophy of "ability-based and characteristic creation", optimizes professional settings, strengthens curriculum construction, strengthens practical teaching, attaches importance to teacher construction, deepens school-government-enterprise cooperation, reforms, innovates, and struggles for more than 20 years, forming a school-running feature of relying on the industry, strengthening application, open schooling, and efficient management. The Professional Teaching Steering Committee, composed of more than 100 experts from all walks of life and universities, has played an important role in the college's professional settings, teacher recruitment, teaching plan review, internship base provision, student employment guidance, and employment recommendations. The college has always adhered to the purpose of cultivating high-level applied talents, adhered to the talent training idea of "strengthening theory, focusing on application, strengthening practice, and applying what you have learned", relying on the strong faculty of Suzhou University and the backbone teachers of the college, using a flexible school-running mechanism, while strengthening basic theoretical education, highlighting the cultivation of students' practical ability and on-site comprehensive problem-solving ability. In the past five years, our teachers have won 24 provincial and ministerial education and teaching awards and above, and 12 municipal and departmental education and teaching awards; students have won 453 awards in various professional skills and subject competitions at the national and provincial levels, including 69 national awards and 384 provincial awards. The average annual employment rate of graduates exceeds 95%, and the quality of graduates has been unanimously praised by employers. The college actively expands international exchanges and has established cooperative relations with more than 20 universities in countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Two Sino-foreign cooperative education projects approved by the Ministry of Education have been obtained. In recent years, the college has actively seized the strategic opportunity of the country to guide a number of general undergraduate colleges to transform into applied technology colleges, and has comprehensively promoted the ISO9001 quality management system and the performance excellence management model. Taking the approval to join the Alliance of Applied Technology Universities, being selected as the first batch of Ministry of Education-ZTE ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base Colleges, and the "Internet + Made in China 2025" Industry-Education Integration Promotion Plan Pilot Colleges as an opportunity, the college actively cooperates with Kunshan's six-year action plan for transformation, upgrading and innovative development, implements the innovation-driven development strategy, explores effective ways to serve economic construction and social development, adheres to the development path of applied undergraduate education, and makes applied undergraduate education distinctive and branded, builds a complete applied innovative talent training system, and strives to make the college a distinctive high-level applied technology university, so that the century-old institution can create new glory in the thousand-year ancient town.
