History

The origins of the Catholic University of Mozambique can be traced back to the early 1990s, when Mozambique was transitioning from a one-party socialist state to a multi-party democratic state, and the Mozambican Bishops' Conference began to explore the possibility of establishing a Catholic university. In 1992, the establishment of the university was proposed as an institutional compromise during the peace talks in Rome. In 1994, the Bishops' Conference formally approved the establishment of the university, which was officially established in 1995. In August 1996, the first colleges were opened in Beira and Nampula.

Following the philosophy of Catholic higher education, it emphasizes the free exploration of the truth of nature, humanity and God, and is committed to protecting and enhancing human dignity and cultural heritage through research, teaching and providing various services to local communities.

Faculties and disciplines: It has the School of Economics and Management, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Law, the School of Education and Communication, the School of Agriculture, the School of Tourism Management and Information Technology, etc. The disciplines cover multiple fields such as economics, management, law, education, agriculture, tourism, information technology, and health sciences.
