The cradle of outstanding shipping talents in New China, Jiangsu Maritime Vocational and Technical College is a full-time higher vocational college approved by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. It is a high-level higher vocational college with Chinese characteristics and a professional construction unit, a national high-quality junior college, a model higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province, a high-level higher vocational college construction unit in Jiangsu Province, and the first batch of demonstration vocational education groups (alliances) training units of the Ministry of Education. The school is the first specialized school to train ocean-going seafarers after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Founded in 1951, its predecessor was the seafarer training class founded by the Ministry of Communications of the Central People's Government and the All-China Federation of Seafarers in 1951 and the Nanjing River Transport Workers Technical School founded by the Yangtze River Shipping Administration in 1956. Over the past 70 years, the school has undergone several name changes, transfers, mergers and upgrades. The majors have been fully expanded, the scale of school operation has been continuously expanded, the conditions for school operation have been comprehensively improved, and the connotation construction has been continuously deepened. The three distinctive campuses are located in the source of the famous navigator Zheng He's seven voyages to the West, the ancient city of Nanjing, which is rich in natural beauty and has three campuses in Jiangning, Qinhuai and Banqiao, covering a total area of 1,629 acres. The Jiangning campus is located at the foot of the beautiful Fangshan Mountain and is located in the core area of Jiangning University Town. It is adjacent to well-known universities such as China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Xiaozhuang College, and Nanjing University of Media and Communications, sharing multiple educational resources. Qinhuai Campus is located in the prosperous commercial district of Nanjing, with convenient transportation and a large number of merchants. It has built a provincial university science and technology park that is one of the few higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province. The park integrates education, scientific research, technology transfer and transformation, and enterprise incubation. Banqiao Campus is located on the bank of the Yangtze River. It has the only berthing training ship "Yuxin" in the country's maritime colleges, the Yangtze River Delta Modern Shipping Technology Public Training Base approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, and the "Yangtze River Delta Modern Navigation Technology Virtual Simulation Training Base", a national demonstration virtual simulation training base for vocational education. The planned 54,000 square meters of industry-education integration science and technology park is being accelerated.
