Shandong Vocational College of Media is the only public higher vocational college of radio, film and television and mass media in the province approved by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education. It is affiliated to the Shandong Provincial Radio and Television Bureau and co-managed with the Shandong Provincial Department of Education. The predecessor of the college was the Shandong Provincial Broadcasting School founded in 1960, and was renamed the Shandong Provincial Radio and Television School in 1982. In 2008, Shandong Vocational College of Media was established with the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the registration of the Ministry of Education. In 2014, Shandong Publishing Technical School was merged into the college. The college has Zhangqiu Campus and Wendong Campus, with a total construction area of 181,400 square meters. Zhangqiu Campus is the main campus, covering an area of more than 800 acres and a construction area of 163,200 square meters. At present, there are 31 majors in eight teaching institutions, including the Department of Film and Television Production, the Department of Journalism and Communication, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Digital Media Animation, the Department of Art Design, the Department of Preschool Education and Drama, the Basic Teaching Department, and the School of Marxism. It recruits students from 16 provinces across the country. There are more than 10,000 students and more than 400 faculty and staff. The college takes "relying on the media and serving the media" as its school philosophy, "school-media integration" as its school characteristics, and "only truth and ability" as its school motto. It advocates the school spirit of "pragmatism, rigor, agility, and harmony", the teaching style of "heart and sincerity, industry and excellence" and the style of study of "enjoying learning and thinking", and aims to build a "nationally renowned and provincial first-class" cultural media vocational college. It has a large-scale studio center that meets the provincial radio and television media standards, with a 600-square-meter HD studio, a 200-square-meter HD studio, and a 100-square-meter 4K ultra-high-definition studio that can meet the requirements of TV program recording and live broadcasting; and has set up more than 50 training venues such as the film and television post-editing workstation room, Apple film and television post-packaging room, Apple audio editing room, 240-square-meter studio, 100-square-meter recording studio and VR training room. There are nearly 800,000 paper books in the collection and 15 databases of various types. In recent years, the college has continuously deepened the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and served the prosperity and development of the media industry, cultural industry, and cultural undertakings. It took the lead in establishing the Shandong Provincial Media Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee and the Shandong Provincial Media Industry Vocational Education Group, and has successively won the titles of "Provincial Civilized Unit", "Shandong Provincial Chinese Classic Recitation Specialty School", "Shandong Provincial Green School", and "Advanced Grassroots Unit for Safe Construction".
