The predecessor of Jiangxi Medical College was the Fifth Medical School of Jiangxi Province, which was founded in 1951. It was renamed Shangrao Health School in 1953. In 1958, Shangrao Medical College was founded on the basis of the Health School. In 1959, it was renamed Gandongbei Medical College. In 1978, the Shangrao Branch of Jiangxi Medical College was established with the approval of the Provincial People's Government. Jiangxi Medical College was established in 2013. The school covers an area of 814.9 acres and has a building area of nearly 300,000 square meters. There are 576 full-time teachers, including 198 teachers with a master's degree or above; 1 provincial "double high" talent, 2 provincial teaching masters, 12 provincial young and middle-aged backbone teachers, and 5 Shangrao City Raocheng talents. The nursing professional teaching team is the first batch of vocational college teacher teaching innovation team in Jiangxi Province. The school recruits students from 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country, and currently has more than 8,000 full-time college students. There are 19 majors, including 5 state-controlled majors, including clinical medicine, stomatology, preventive medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and massage. Among them, clinical medicine is the first batch of "double high plan" advantage majors in Jiangxi Province. It also has general practice, imaging, pathology, cosmetology and other professional directions. Clinical medicine professional group and nursing professional group are high-level professional groups in Jiangxi Province. Medical imaging, clinical medicine (general medicine), midwifery and medical laboratory technology are four provincial specialty majors. Since 2018, it has regularly carried out teaching and scientific research exchanges with the University of Lorraine in France, and has jointly organized a medical biotechnology major, which has successfully recruited five classes of students. The school currently has 2 directly affiliated hospitals, including 1 Class A tertiary comprehensive hospital, 1 Class A secondary comprehensive hospital (with 1 Class A tertiary ophthalmology hospital), and 1 non-directly affiliated hospital. It has off-campus internship and apprenticeship bases in 90 Class A secondary and above hospitals and 47 professional counterparts across the country. In the past five years, the school has been approved for two National Natural Science Foundations, one first prize of Jiangxi Science and Technology Progress Award, one second prize of Jiangxi Science and Technology Progress Award, two short-term projects of Jiangxi "Double Thousand Plan", four Jiangxi Natural Science Foundations (one key project), 230 provincial projects of various types, published more than 1,100 papers, and authorized 123 patents. The school and Beijing Hanshi Group jointly built the Shangrao (International) Stem Cell Regenerative Medicine Industry-University-Research Base, and introduced the Jiangxi Branch of the National Stem Cell Engineering Technology Center to settle in our school. In March 2018, the Jiangxi Research Center of the WBBC Project of West Lake University settled in our school, and based on this, the "Boyue Science Center" was established, and the team of Professor Zheng Houfeng of the School of Basic Medicine of West Lake University was introduced; the team of Professor Meng Jihong, Director of the Institute of Genetic Engineering Vaccines of Southeast University; the medical 3D printing team of Professor Dong Xieping, Honorary Director of Orthopedics and Doctoral Supervisor of Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital, completed the construction of a high-level talent studio; actively organized and implemented the three major school-level public scientific research platforms of "Environmental and Health Research Platform", "Molecular Biology Research Platform" and "Medical 3D Printing Innovation Research Center". The school actively connects with the needs of local economic and social development, establishes two production-education integration innovation bases such as the saffron planting base, and one doctoral workstation, to serve rural revitalization with science and technology. In recent years, the school has successively won the honorary titles of "National Youth Health University", "National First Aid Education Pilot School", "Provincial Advanced Teaching Management Unit", "Provincial University Safe Campus Demonstration School", "Provincial Education System Advanced Grassroots Party Organization", etc. It is a provincial popular science education base and a provincial primary and secondary school research and practice education base. In the National Vocational College Imaging Technology Skills Competition, Teacher Teaching Skills Competition and Inspection Skills Competition, the school won the first prize for the group and the first prize for the individual, the National Vocational College Clinical Medicine Skills Competition and the National College Medical Cosmetology Skills Competition respectively won the second prize for the group, the National Medical Student Anatomy Drawing Competition won the special prize and the first prize, the provincial vocational college clinical skills competition and the teaching ability competition won the first prize, and the "First National College Ideological and Political Theory Course Teaching Demonstration Activity" was selected into the top 200 in the country and other outstanding achievements. In the course of more than 70 years of running the school, the school has trained nearly 90,000 graduates for the society. A large number of them have obtained master's and doctoral degrees after further studies, and more graduates have become the backbone of medical and health units at all levels and leaders of grassroots health units.
