Lijiang Culture and Tourism College (formerly Yunnan University Tourism and Culture College) is located in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, which enjoys the three titles of World Cultural Heritage, World Natural Heritage, and World Memory Heritage. The school was founded in 2001 and is one of the first independent colleges with distinctive school characteristics confirmed by the Ministry of Education in 2004. After more than 20 years of construction and development, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education in February 2021 to be converted from an independent college to an independently established undergraduate private general college. It is one of the first two colleges in Yunnan Province to be converted based on its strength. In the "2024 Soft Science China University Rankings", our school ranks 75th in the national private colleges and universities, up 8 places from 2023, and continues to maintain the first level of similar colleges and universities in Yunnan Province, ranking among the excellent private colleges and universities in China. The school has an independent campus covering an area of 1,528 acres, with a total value of nearly 100 million yuan in teaching instruments and equipment, and a collection of 2.1304 million books. The sports and cultural facilities are complete, and the logistics service facilities are fully functional. It has the only golf driving range covering an area of 20,000 square meters among colleges and universities in Yunnan Province. The campus environment is beautiful and elegant. It has been selected as one of the "Top 50 Universities with the Satisfaction of College Students' Campus Environment" by the Ministry of Education, and the honorary titles of "Garden Unit" and "Green and Beautiful Campus" in Yunnan Province; the campus buildings have won the "Silver Award for Architectural Design" and "Architectural Creation Award for the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" of the Ministry of Construction. The school recruits students nationwide according to the national plan, and cultivates high-quality application-oriented and technical and skilled talents with innovative ability who are adapted to the needs of industry positions, have a solid theoretical foundation, strong professional and practical abilities, and are well-rounded in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor development. There are 8 disciplines including economics, management, literature, art, science, engineering, medicine, and education, 40 undergraduate majors and 9 junior college majors; among them, the hotel management major is the only national first-class undergraduate major construction site among similar universities in Yunnan Province, and the two majors of nursing and tourism management are first-class undergraduate major construction sites in Yunnan Province. There are currently 9 secondary colleges and 2 teaching departments, with more than 22,000 full-time students, covering 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country. Nearly two-thirds of the students come from all over the country outside Yunnan Province; it has trained more than 55,000 undergraduate graduates for the country and society, and the annual graduation destination implementation rate of graduates in the past five years has remained above 96%. The school actively carries out foreign cooperation and exchanges, and batches of students have gone to the United States, France, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries and Taiwan to participate in foreign exchange and cooperation projects or study abroad. In 2018, the school was awarded the honorary title of the first "Yunnan Civilized Campus", and it is the only independent college in Yunnan Province to receive this honorary title. In 2019, it was jointly named "Yunnan Safe Campus" by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Political and Legal Committee, and the Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department. It is the only independent college in the province to receive this honor.
