Chuxiong Medical College is located in Chuxiong, the hinterland of central Yunnan, which has three world-class business cards: "Hometown of Dinosaurs in the World, Hometown of Oriental Humans, and Grand View Garden of Yi Culture in China". The predecessor of the school was Shanghai Health School. In 1970, in order to build the frontier and change the situation of lack of medical care and medicine for the people in the frontier, Shanghai Health School moved to Chuxiong, Yunnan as a whole. Starting from scratch and relying on self-reliance, it built a health school in the place where the motherland needed it most. From then on, the glorious history of Chuxiong Health School in Yunnan Province began, and a new journey of health education in ethnic minority areas in the frontier began. Under the correct leadership of the provincial and state party committees and governments, with the care and support of the Provincial Department of Education, and with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Chuxiong Health School in Yunnan Province was upgraded to Chuxiong Medical College (national standard code 14013) in 2006. It is a characteristic backbone college in Yunnan Province. Chuxiong Medical College is a medical college with a long history of running schools, a full range of majors, and a high level of schooling. The school has developed from recruiting students from the whole province to recruiting students from 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. It has provided adult education and training for more than 50,000 medical and health personnel in Yunnan Province, and more than 40,000 full-time technical secondary and junior college education. The school has long been responsible for the training of rural doctors, community doctors and ethnic medicine talents in Kunming, Chuxiong Prefecture, Dali Prefecture, Yuxi City, Pu'er City, Nujiang Prefecture and other regions.
