Guangdong Water Resources and Electric Power Vocational and Technical College is a provincial public full-time higher vocational college with distinctive industry characteristics. Formerly Guangzhou Civil Engineering School, founded in 1952, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college in 1999. In December 2018, the school was transferred from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Water Resources to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. The school is a national "double high plan" construction unit, a national backbone higher vocational college, a national high-quality water conservancy higher vocational college, a national water conservancy vocational education demonstration college, and the fourth national civilized unit. It is a first-class higher vocational college in Guangdong Province and a demonstrative higher vocational college in Guangdong Province. It has been selected as a national high-quality junior college higher vocational college, the first batch of demonstration vocational education group (alliance) cultivation units (vice chairman units) of the Ministry of Education, the third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education, the top 50 typical colleges of higher vocational education governance system in 2022, 100 excellent colleges in the teacher development index of higher vocational colleges, the first batch of national top 100 higher vocational colleges in production and education integration, and a typical college for international cooperation and exchange in vocational education in 2022. It has won the honorary titles of National University with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment, Advanced Unit of Vocational Education in Guangdong Province, Demonstration School of School Governance by Law in Guangdong Province, Energy-saving Demonstration University in Guangdong Province, Water-saving University in Guangdong Province, Green School in Guangdong Province, and Collective of Guangdong Province's "May 1st Labor Award". It has been awarded one of the "Third Batch of National Party Building Benchmarking Department Cultivation Units", two "Three-Type" Party Branches in Guangdong Province, and one Model Branch of Party Building Work in the Province. The school currently has two campuses in Tianhe and Conghua, Guangzhou, with 15 teaching units including the School of Water Conservancy Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Municipal Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Automation and Information Technology, the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, the School of Architectural Environment and Design, the School of Foreign Languages and Foreign Trade, the School of Marxism, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the School of International Education, the School of Continuing Education, and the Department of Public Courses, covering an area of about 1,500 acres, with 2.18 million books, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 260 million yuan. There are 12 pilot majors for high school-undergraduate connection and 14 majors for Sino-foreign cooperation. The first Sino-foreign cooperative higher vocational education institution in Guangdong Province was established, 16 cooperative majors were developed, and Chinese and foreign teachers were organized to jointly develop 7 internationally recognized professional standards, 9 course standards, and 10 Sino-foreign co-edited textbooks, with a total of 216 international students enrolled.
