Sanmenxia Vocational and Technical College is located in Sanmenxia, which is known as the "Pearl of the Yellow River, the Holy Land of Culture, and the City of Swan". It was established in 1999 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It was established on the basis of the merger of Yuxi Normal School (founded in 1946), Sanmenxia Institute of Technology (founded in 1996) and Sanmenxia Radio and Television University (founded in 1986). It is a public full-time general higher vocational college organized by the Sanmenxia Municipal People's Government and managed by the Henan Provincial Department of Education. The college currently has 10 secondary colleges including the School of Applied Engineering, the School of Marxism, the School of Food and Gardening, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Architectural Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Information and Media, the School of Economics and Management, the Normal College, and the School of Medical Care, as well as two teaching departments, the Public Teaching Department and the Basic Department. There are also one Henan Demonstration Software College and one International Exchange and Cooperation College. There are more than 900 full-time and part-time teachers, 215 full-time teachers with associate senior titles or above, 470 postgraduates and above, 382 dual-qualified teachers, more than 30 national excellent teachers, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, provincial vocational education experts, provincial excellent teachers, excellent teachers in the provincial education system, provincial academic and technical leaders, and high-level talents in Henan Province. There are more than 36,000 students of all kinds, including more than 25,000 full-time students and more than 11,000 adult education and TVU students. The college has currently formed a "one school, two campuses" school-running pattern, of which the Swan Lake campus covers an area of 1,400 acres, the Lingfeng Lake campus covers an area of 1,500 acres, with a total construction area of 790,000 square meters, and 66 enrollment majors, involving agriculture, forestry, biochemistry, manufacturing, civil engineering, finance, tourism, materials and energy, electronic information, culture and education, art design and medical nursing and other professional categories. In 2015, the Sanmenxia Municipal Government and Henan University of Science and Technology cooperated to establish the Henan University of Science and Technology School of Applied Engineering based on the educational resources of our college. It currently has 10 general undergraduate majors and more than 2,400 full-time students. The college is currently a high-level vocational college in Henan Province, a high-quality vocational college in Henan Province, a key vocational college in Henan Province, a brand demonstration college of vocational education in Henan Province, the first batch of national 1+X certificate system pilot colleges, the third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education, and a pilot college for diagnosis and improvement of the internal quality assurance system of vocational colleges in Henan Province. The college has carried out comprehensive strategic cooperation with the local government, closely focusing on the demand for technical and skilled talents for regional economic development, and has worked with the municipal government to establish the Sanmenxia Big Data Center, Sanmenxia Entrepreneurship Incubation Base, and Sanmenxia Public Innovation Space. The college takes the construction of national high-level vocational colleges and the construction of independent undergraduate colleges as the guide, comprehensively deepens the reform of education and teaching, and proposes the "six-step four-combination" course teaching model.
