Changchun Automotive Industry College was founded in 1952. Its predecessor was Changchun Automotive Technical School established by China FAW. It started full-time college education in 1979 and was transferred to the management of Changchun Municipal Government by China FAW in 2009. The school became one of the first national higher vocational demonstration colleges in 2009 and entered the ranks of high-level higher vocational schools with Chinese characteristics in 2019. It is the first school in China to train talents for the automotive industry and the only college in the country that runs schools for the entire automotive industry chain. It provides talent and intellectual support for China to become an automotive power and is known as the "Cradle of Chinese Automotive Talents". The school is located in Changchun Automotive Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 710,000 square meters and a construction area of 280,000 square meters. It recruits students from 29 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country, with nearly 10,000 full-time students. It has 526 full-time teachers and 412 teachers with master's and doctoral degrees or above. It has 3 national teaching teams and 6 provincial excellent teaching teams; 1 national high-level talent special support plan teaching master, 4 experts enjoying the government allowance of the State Council, 19 Changbai Mountain skill masters in Jilin Province, 3 provincial teaching masters, 287 teachers with international enterprise certification qualifications, and more than 70% of professional teachers are dual-qualified teachers. 245 part-time teachers from enterprises such as craftsmen and technical experts are employed. The school has won 3 national teaching achievement awards, and teachers and students have won more than 50 first prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition. The teaching equipment and facilities are advanced, and 170 internship and training bases such as new energy vehicles, intelligent manufacturing, vehicle-road collaboration, and automotive marketing services have been built, with a total value of 420 million yuan for teaching instruments and equipment. The school has a total of 35 majors, including 5 national demonstration (backbone) majors and 8 provincial demonstration (high-level) majors. The school has carried out customized training with FAW-Volkswagen, Geely Automobile and more than 800 Chinese and foreign companies in Germany, Britain, France, Japan, etc., and has launched nearly 60 high-end brand cooperation projects. The coverage rate of professional school-enterprise cooperation is 100%, and the deep integration of production and education has been achieved. The school has formed the characteristics of talent training that integrates China and foreign countries, and has been selected as the first batch of members of the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Alliance. It has been rated as the Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education Demonstration Center. The internationalization of school-running has achieved remarkable results. A large number of graduates have gone abroad and played an important role in the development of the automobile industry in countries along the "Belt and Road". At present, nearly 200,000 graduates trained by the school have become indispensable talents for the development of the automobile industry in New China. Among them, two graduates, Wang Hongjun and Qi Songyu, won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. This is the first time that Chinese front-line workers have won this honor; Li Kaijun, Jin Tao, Yang Yongxiu and other large numbers of graduates have become elites and top-notch technical and skilled talents in industry enterprises, and have won honorary titles such as National Model Workers, National May 1st Labor Medals, and China Youth May 4th Medals. The employment rate of school graduates has remained above 95% for many years, with a high professional matching rate, high employment quality, and high corporate satisfaction. The school is one of the first national pilot units of modern apprenticeship system, one of the first national model schools for digital campus construction of vocational colleges, the chairman unit of the National Mechanical Industry New Energy Vehicle Vocational Education Group, one of the first national high-level backbone vocational colleges serving advanced manufacturing in the machinery industry, a leading vocational school in a province with strong higher education, and one of the first modern vocational education demonstration schools in Jilin Province. It has successively won the titles of National Advanced Vocational Education Unit, Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award Excellent School, National Vocational College Employment Competitiveness Demonstration School, National Top 50 Vocational Colleges with International Influence, National Top 50 Vocational Colleges with Internship Management, National Top 50 Vocational Colleges with Teaching Management, and China's Most Socially Influential Colleges. After 70 years of development, the school has truly become a high-quality vocational college with accurate direction, cutting-edge, close local connection, indispensable to enterprises, promising students, and internationally renowned.
