Yangling Vocational and Technical College is a provincial full-time public general college established in 1999 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. It was established by merging and upgrading the former national key technical secondary school Shaanxi Agricultural School, Shaanxi Water Conservancy School and provincial and ministerial key technical secondary school Shaanxi Forestry School. It is located in Yangling, the first national agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zone in the country. The history of the school can be traced back to the higher vocational college attached to the National Northwest Agricultural and Forestry College in 1934. Since its establishment 89 years ago, it has trained more than 250,000 professional and technical talents of various types, and a group of agricultural experts, national technical experts and model workers have emerged. A large number of graduates have become county (district, bureau) heads, and it is known as the "cradle" for the training of local county (district, bureau) heads. The comprehensive strength ranks first in the national higher vocational education. It is one of the first batch of national demonstration colleges, a first-class college in Shaanxi Province, a national high-quality junior college, and a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics ("double high" school). In the long-term practice of running schools, the school has formed the school philosophy of "governing the country, solving people's livelihood, and advocating science" and the school motto of "enlightening virtue and strengthening ability, speaking and doing", and established the school orientation of "taking agriculture as the basis, taking root in Shaanxi, serving the west, facing the whole country, and going to the world" and the education concept of "cultivating both morality and skills, and comprehensive and sustainable development", making significant contributions to the development of agriculture, forestry and water industry in Shaanxi and even the whole country. The school currently has four campuses (South Campus, West Campus, North Campus and Binhe Campus), covering an area of 3,069 acres, with a school building area of 704,400 square meters, a total fixed asset value of about 1.48 billion yuan, 1.343 million books, and 970,000 electronic books. There are 1,252 faculty members, 11 professors above level 3, 401 associate senior titles or above, 960 teachers with master's degrees or above, and "double-qualified" teachers account for 65.6%. The school has 16 teaching colleges and departments, including the School of Water Conservancy Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Transportation and Surveying Engineering, the School of Bioengineering, the School of Pharmacy and Chemical Engineering, the School of Ecological and Environmental Engineering, the School of Animal Engineering, the School of Economics and Trade, the School of Tourism and Management, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Marxism, the School of Continuing Education and Training, the School of International Education, and the Department of Physical Education. It offers 68 majors and directions in 8 major professional groups, including agriculture, forestry, water, construction, science, engineering, management, and economics, 4 undergraduate joint majors, 2 national-level and 7 provincial-level high-level professional groups, and is the only vocational college in the country with the most complete agricultural, forestry, water and animal husbandry majors. The school adheres to the educational concept of "moral and technical training, comprehensive and sustainable development", innovates the "four-in-one" talent training, and continuously promotes education and teaching reforms.
