Wuxi City Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college at the higher vocational (junior college) level approved by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and filed with the Ministry of Education. It is run by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government. In 2004, it was formed by the merger of Wuxi Cadre School, Jiangnan College Tourism and Economics Branch, Wuxi Workers University, Wuxi Light Industry Workers University and Wuxi Urban Construction Workers University. In 2013, it merged with Wuxi Higher Normal School (Wuxi Branch of Jiangsu Education Institute), and its history can be traced back to the Jiangsu Government Third Normal School established in 1911. After a hundred years of development, the school has cultivated many Chinese talents such as Rong Yiren, Xue Muqiao, Wu Guanzhong, and Hu Fuming. The school covers an area of nearly 1,000 acres and currently has more than 10,000 full-time students. The school has built a professional system that is closely aligned with the development of local industries, with 14 teaching colleges (departments), 58 higher vocational (junior college) majors, and 11 professional groups. Among them, there are 2 key construction majors supported by the central government, 2 national vocational college demonstration majors of the Ministry of Education, 1 high-level professional group and 3 high-level backbone majors in higher vocational education in Jiangsu Province, 2 provincial key construction professional groups, 1 provincial brand major and 1 characteristic major. The school insists on strengthening the school with talents, and creates a high-quality and professional teaching team with noble teacher ethics, superb business, reasonable structure and vitality. There are more than 500 full-time teachers, 78% of whom have master's degrees or above, and 40% have senior professional titles. There is 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in the province, 13 training targets of the provincial "333 Project", 3 excellent teaching teams of the provincial "Qinglan Project", 5 young and middle-aged academic leaders, 18 outstanding young backbone teachers, 2 provincial "Six Talent Peaks" funding targets, 1 "Dual Teacher" famous teacher studio of vocational education in Jiangsu Province, 3 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in the city, and 4 leading talents in social undertakings in the city. Teachers have won more than 50 awards in various teaching skills competitions at or above the provincial level, and one teacher was invited to be the guest speaker of CCTV's "Legal Lecture Hall". The school adheres to the principle of quality and vigorously cultivates high-quality technical and skilled talents. Cooperating with universities such as Changzhou Institute of Technology, Wuxi Taihu University, Nanjing Institute of Media and Communications, and Jiangsu Institute of Technology, the school implements the "3+2" segmented training project for higher vocational and undergraduate education to jointly train applied undergraduate talents. In recent years, the school has actively explored the reform of talent training models and won 2 first prizes and 6 second prizes in the Jiangsu Provincial Education and Teaching Achievement Award. Students have won more than 550 awards in national, provincial and municipal vocational skills competitions. The school has established cooperative relations with 32 universities and educational institutions in 16 countries and regions such as the United States, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan. More than 100 students have gone abroad for exchanges and exchanges to obtain international general qualification certificates. The school insists on serving the school and actively participates in the joint construction of the Ministry and the Province to build a model for high-quality development of vocational education in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area and the construction of Wuxi to build a national vocational education highland city. It has co-established 285 off-campus internship bases with Wuxi Junlai Hotel Management Group Co., Ltd. and SAIC Maxus Automobile Co., Ltd. It took the lead in establishing the first agricultural industry college in Jiangsu Province-Wuxi Rural E-commerce College, and co-established "Industry College" with Wuxi Junlai Hotel Management Group, Jiangsu Xinkaisheng Microelectronics Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Anheng Information Technology Co., Ltd., Huafei Aviation Development Group (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., Nanjing Jinling Hotel Group Co., Ltd. and many other companies.
