Shaanxi International Business and Trade College is located in Xixian New District, Xi'an. It is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school was founded by Buchang Pharmaceutical in 1997. It was originally named Shaanxi International Business and Trade College. In 2002, it was renamed Shaanxi International Business and Trade Vocational College. After upgrading to a university in 2008, it was named Shaanxi International Business and Trade College. In 2012, it was awarded the bachelor's degree authorization unit. In 2015, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was approved as a demonstration unit for joint training of postgraduates. The school has successively won the honorary titles of "Advanced Grassroots Party Committee of Shaanxi Higher Education Institutions", "Provincial Party Building Work Demonstration University", "Shaanxi Civilized Campus", "Shaanxi Safe Campus", "National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee", "National Mass Sports Advanced Unit" and "Shaanxi Demonstration Higher Education Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Service Agency". Since its establishment, the school has adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, fully implemented the party's education policy, implemented the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people, and always adhered to the original mission of educating people for the party and cultivating talents for the country; adhered to the "local, application-oriented" school-running positioning, and adhered to the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented, serving the society, inclusive and open, and pursuing excellence". The school has 14 teaching units and 33 undergraduate enrollment majors, covering 7 major disciplines such as engineering, science, literature, economics, management, education, and art, forming a discipline and professional system with medicine (pharmaceuticals) as the main subject, multi-disciplinary cross-integration, and coordinated development. The school currently has more than 20,000 students, more than 1,000 faculty and staff, 4 provincial teaching teams, 3 provincial youth innovation teams, and 3 provincial teaching masters. Relying on the advantages of Buchang Pharmaceutical Enterprise and the innovative development opportunities of Xixian New Area, the school closely follows the development needs of regional economy, society and new industries, deepens the integration of production and education, and jointly educates students with schools and enterprises, practices the concept of "three combinations and five empowerments" for the cultivation of applied talents, promotes the reform of applied talent cultivation, and actively explores the "dual-college system" education model. It has co-built 7 industrial colleges such as Buchang Modern Industrial College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Modern Industrial College of Jewelry with enterprises, and has achieved full coverage of undergraduate colleges. In the past three years, the annual average rate of undergraduate graduation has remained at around 85%, and nearly 120,000 graduates have entered the society, making positive contributions to the development of local industry economy. The school has 1 national first-class major, 6 provincial first-class majors, 2 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot colleges, 3 provincial talent training model innovation experimental areas, 6 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers (virtual simulation experimental teaching centers), and 1 provincial curriculum ideological and political teaching research demonstration center; it has been approved as the construction unit of Shaanxi Higher Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, the "Double Hundred Project" Industry-University-Research Integration Demonstration Base, the provincial labor education practice base, the provincial research practice education base, and the provincial emergency education pilot school; it has 18 provincial first-class courses, 10 provincial quality resource sharing courses, 2 provincial curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, 4 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education courses, and 4 provincial excellent textbooks; it has undertaken 88 provincial and above teaching reform projects and has been approved for 5 provincial teaching achievement awards. The school also relies on the advantages of enterprise-run schools, focuses on the national "big health" development strategy, builds a school-enterprise co-construction scientific research platform, gathers superior resources and innovative forces, and actively serves economic and social development. The school has co-built a postdoctoral workstation with Buchang Pharmaceutical, and has 21 provincial and departmental scientific research platforms, including the Shaanxi Provincial Academician Expert Workstation for Biomedical Innovation Technology, the Shaanxi Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Technology Innovation Service Sharing Platform, the Shaanxi University Traditional Chinese Medicine Green Manufacturing Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, the Shaanxi University Philosophy and Social Science Key Research Base-Health Culture Research Center, the Shaanxi Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Pharmaceutical Key Technology Key Research Room, the Shaanxi University Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Marker Innovation Team, and the Xixian Economic High-quality Development Research New Think Tank. 412 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level were approved, including 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 1 National Social Science Foundation project, 6 humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education, and 2 national education science planning projects; 31 scientific research achievement awards at or above the departmental level were won, including 3 Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, 6 Shaanxi University Science and Technology Achievement Awards, 2 Xi'an Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, and 3 Shaanxi University Humanities and Social Sciences Research Outstanding Achievement Awards. The school ranks 24th in Wu Shulian's "2023 China Private Undergraduate Colleges and Universities Research Competitiveness Ranking", and ranks 2nd among Shaanxi private colleges and independent colleges, and its research competitiveness ranks among the top 10% of private colleges and universities nationwide. With the goal of broadening the international vision of teachers and students and improving multicultural literacy, the school actively carries out international cooperation and exchanges, and has established cooperative relations with well-known universities in six countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand. It has co-established business research institutes with Thailand's Chulalongkorn University and Singapore's Nanyang Institute of Management, and carried out exchanges, visiting studies, academic studies, internships and other projects for teachers and students, forming a multi-channel and multi-level international exchange and cooperation pattern.
