Hefei Vocational and Technical College (formerly Chaohu Vocational and Technical College) was established in 2002. It was formed by the merger and upgrading of the three provincial key technical secondary schools, namely Chaohu Health School, Chaohu Agricultural School (Anhui Land Management School), and Chaohu Finance School. It is one of the earlier higher vocational colleges in our province. In 2007, 2008, and 2010, Anhui Automobile Transportation Senior Technical School, Anhui Radio and Television University Chaohu Branch, and Chaohu Commercial Cadre School were successively incorporated. In April 2012, due to the administrative division adjustment of Anhui Province, it was renamed Hefei Vocational and Technical College and became the only comprehensive higher vocational college in Hefei. The school insists on using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to cultivate souls and educate people, adhere to the socialist direction of running schools, and strive to promote high-quality development. The school is one of the first 16 local skill-based high-level universities (A-level) in Anhui Province established by the Provincial Department of Education, a high-quality junior college higher vocational college in the National "Innovation and Development Action Plan", a winner of the third China Quality Award nomination award, the first batch of vocational college principal training bases of the Ministry of Education, and the first civilized campus in Anhui Province. The school has been awarded the title of "Provincial School-Enterprise Cooperation Demonstration Base" and "Provincial Entrepreneurship College". The school currently covers an area of 1,220.30 acres, with a total construction area of about 562,600 square meters and a total investment of over 3.2 billion yuan; there are 855 full-time teachers, 58 professors (senior), 214 teachers with associate senior titles and above, and 313 "double-qualified" teachers. There are 305 off-campus teachers and industry mentors; there are more than 1.2 million paper books, 10 million electronic books, more than 390 paper Chinese and foreign journals, and more than 15,000 electronic journals; there are 260 on-campus experimental training rooms, 174 off-campus internship training bases, and more than 4,000 computers for teaching. The school focuses on three-year higher vocational education, and also offers radio and television university education. There are 56 enrollment majors in 11 colleges, including the School of Medicine, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Rail Transportation, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, School of Bioengineering, School of Information Engineering and Media (School of Internet of Things), School of Economics, Trade and Tourism, School of Construction Engineering, School of Basic Education, School of Marxism, and School of Continuing Education. Up to now, the school has nearly 16,000 full-time students and more than 5,000 part-time academic education students. The average annual employment rate of graduates is over 96%, and the employment rate in Hefei area has reached 60%. In April 2021, Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier of the State Council, visited the school and fully affirmed the school's employment work. The school adheres to the school motto of "respecting morality, attaching importance to skills, seeking truth, and innovation", adheres to the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented, morality and skills, quality-driven school, and characteristic development", and has established the five development strategies of "culture-based school, talent-strong school, quality-driven school, innovation-driven, and integrated development", taking the development path of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and cultivating high-quality skilled talents for production, construction, management and service frontlines. In 2019, the key majors of automobile inspection and maintenance technology, nursing, accounting, engineering cost, the school-enterprise co-construction FAW-Volkswagen 4S store production training base, the school-enterprise co-construction health technology training base, the virtual simulation training center for the professional ability training of nursing majors, the "double-qualified" teacher training base for the Internet of Things Technology Application major, and the "double-qualified" teacher training base for the e-commerce major were recognized by the Ministry of Education as projects of the "Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education (2015-2018)". The school is the first batch of "Talent Training Bases for Chinese and Foreign Cultural Exchanges in the Field of Intelligent Manufacturing" approved by the Ministry of Education, the "Training Base for Skilled Talents in Shortage in the Nursing Field" approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, the "NIT Talent Training Base" approved by the Ministry of Education, the Anhui Province Computer System High-skilled Talent Training Base, the Anhui Province Motor Vehicle Maintenance Practitioners Qualification Examination Test Site, and the Anhui Province Safety Production Qualification Examination Test Site. The school has established institutions such as the Anhui National Vocational Ability Training Center and the National Vocational Skills Appraisal Station. In 2015, the school was identified by the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, Anhui Provincial Department of Transportation, Anhui Provincial Public Security Department and Anhui Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security as the first batch of pilot schools for bus driving majors. In accordance with the requirements of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee to "raise the benchmark, increase efforts, and strive to create a new situation in the reform and development of vocational education", combined with the national vocational education development strategy, the school has determined the construction goal of "domestic first-class and vocational education model", adheres to the fundamental principle of cultivating people with moral integrity, the purpose of serving development, the orientation of promoting employment, the core of capacity training, and the support of Hefei's pillar industries and large and medium-sized enterprises in the modern vocational education group. Focusing on "relying on industries to run majors, running majors well to promote employment", the school deepens the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, realizes the integration of industry, majors and employment, and integrates the "four chains" of education chain, talent chain, industrial chain and innovation chain. The comprehensive strength of the school has been steadily improved, forming a distinctive, flexible, diverse and dynamic school-running model and mechanism, and has achieved good social effects of talent training and social services. In order to better serve the economic and social development of Hefei, we proposed the strategic concept of "one school, two campuses and one park" (Xinzhan Huixinhu Campus, Chaohu Gushan Campus, Jinzhai Road Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park) based on the school's strength, conditions and positioning, and it was soon fully affirmed and strongly supported by the municipal party committee and government. In September 2018, Xinzhan Huixinhu Campus was completed and put into use. Huixinhu Campus mainly builds professional clusters around Hefei's pillar industries and strategic emerging industries. At present, it has built six major professional clusters covering mechanical and electrical, information, economic and trade tourism, rail transportation, art, and design, creating a number of characteristic brand majors with great influence in the country. Chaohu Gushan Campus combines the regional development positioning of Chaohu City, aims to develop the college's traditional advantageous majors, retains majors such as medicine, biology, architecture, and automobiles, and further expands related professional fields. Jinzhai Road Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park aims to enhance students' innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities, provide professional internships and training, serve local economic development, and build an industrial park for high-tech vocational colleges in Hefei. The school will actively implement the school-running and development strategy of "one school, two districts and one park", adhere to "doing practical things for teachers and students, and creating a good environment for academic research", and strive to enter the vocational education undergraduate program, and strive to build the school into a "domestic first-class and vocational education model" vocational education undergraduate program, to help Hefei build "five high-tech areas and one demonstration" and integrate into the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta, and strive to become the vanguard of higher vocational education in Anhui Province as soon as possible!
