Shanghai Jiaotong Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as "the school") is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education. In September 2021, the former Shanghai Transportation School and Shanghai Public Utilities School were fully incorporated and formed into the new Shanghai Jiaotong Vocational and Technical College. The school is affiliated to the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission and has a history of more than 60 years. Backed by the industry and facing the society, the school has established a school-running model that not only undertakes the three-year and five-year continuous talent training of higher vocational education, but also undertakes relevant vocational training and continuing education in the transportation industry. The school currently has 6 campuses, distributed in 5 districts including Xuhui, Baoshan, Pudong, Minhang, and Jiading, covering an area of nearly 400 acres, with about 7,600 full-time students. The school has seven major departments: the School of Rail Transportation, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Public Utilities and Road and Bridge Engineering, the Department of Port and Shipping Engineering, the Department of Smart Transportation, the Department of Economic Management, and the Department of Humanities and Arts. There are 37 majors with comprehensive transportation industry characteristics, 11 majors that are integrated into secondary and higher vocational education, and 10 majors that are integrated into a five-year system. "Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Technology" and "Container Transportation Management" are national-level educational reform pilot majors. "Customs and Foreign Trade Services" and "Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Technology" are key majors of the central government. "Modern Logistics Management" and "Urban Rail Vehicle Application Technology" are the main majors of the Ministry of Transport. "Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Technology", "Automobile Technical Service and Marketing", "Modern Logistics Management", "Container Transportation Management", and "Urban Rail Vehicle Application Technology" are included in the key major construction of Shanghai's "085" project. "Urban Rail Vehicle Application Technology" and "Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Technology" are first-class higher vocational majors in Shanghai. The professional group of intelligent connected vehicles and the professional group of urban rail vehicle application technology are high-level higher vocational majors in Shanghai. Urban rail vehicle application technology and automobile inspection and maintenance technology are high-level majors that are integrated into secondary and higher vocational education in Shanghai. Logistics management is a high-level major that is integrated into secondary vocational education and applied undergraduate education in Shanghai. The school has a strong faculty, with a full-time teaching team with professional leaders and senior professional teachers as the backbone, and the quality of the construction of the dual-qualified teaching team is relatively high. In recent years, the school's students have won more than 200 awards in various student competitions at all levels, such as the World Skills Competition, the National Vocational College Skills Competition, and the Shanghai "Starlight Plan" Competition. Shanghai Jiao Tong University is the leading unit of Shanghai Transportation and Logistics Vocational Education Group. Backed by the resource advantages of the transportation industry, it brings together 91 member units (including 9 industry associations, 48 enterprises and institutions, and 34 colleges and universities), and has built a "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei-Shanghai-Nanjing-Shanxi-Chuan Transportation Vocational Education Group School Alliance" that is connected with the national economic integration and coordinated development strategy.
