Tianjin Public Security Professional College is a junior college-level general college approved by the Ministry of Education with higher education enrollment qualifications. It is the only public security college in Tianjin and is affiliated to the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau and Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. Its predecessor, Tianjin Public Security School, was founded in January 1949. It has gone through the periods of Tianjin Public Security School, Tianjin People's Police School, and Tianjin Public Security Professional College. It is a public security college with a long history, distinctive characteristics, and excellent academic style. Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the college has trained and delivered tens of thousands of business backbones and specialized talents for the security departments of public security organs and enterprises and institutions in Tianjin and more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government. In May 2011, with the approval of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Tianjin Public Security Professional College merged with Tianjin Political and Legal Management Cadre College. The faculty, teaching scale, and school-running level have been greatly improved, and the advantages of educational and teaching resources are more prominent. Tianjin Public Security Professional College has good school conditions. The campus covers an area of 739.2 acres and has 98,000 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings. The 14,000-square-meter teaching building can accommodate more than 2,000 students at the same time and is equipped with closed-circuit television and computer network systems; the experimental training building has 22 indoor experimental training rooms for criminal photography, trace inspection, document inspection, forensic testing, psychological testing, data recovery, electronic evidence collection, simulated driving, etc.; there are multimedia classrooms with advanced equipment; there are training venues such as simulated scenes, simulated police stations, simulated courts, and police skills and tactics; the police physical training hall is used for free fighting, fighting, and fitness training, and can also be used for basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and other ball games that meet national standards; the standard plastic track and field stadium can host various sports events; the shooting hall has 15 target positions for 25-meter and 50-meter shooting training, equipped with automatic target reporting and TV monitoring systems; there is a 3,000-square-meter outdoor expansion training ground; the library and information center covers an area of 7,774 square meters, with a total of 422,000 paper books and electronic books, 902 reading seats, and an electronic reading room. The school has 7 teaching departments and 240 teachers, including 102 professors and associate professors, 122 lecturers, 16 teaching assistants, and 23 professional and technical personnel, including 5 senior titles, 14 intermediate titles, and 4 junior titles, forming a multi-category and multi-disciplinary teaching and research team with senior and middle-level teachers as the backbone. Since its establishment, the school has trained more than tens of thousands of graduates, who are spread across the city's public security and political and legal organs at all levels. Some of them have taken up leadership positions at all levels; some have become excellent business backbones; and some have won the title of heroes and meritorious service with their blood and lives. They are the elites of the public security team, the loyal guards of the People's Republic of China, and the glory and pride of the school. In recent years, under the care of the Municipal Party Committee, the school has worked hard to improve the conditions for running schools, vigorously strengthened the basic construction of teaching, and newly built the school central square, comprehensive building, student apartments and laboratories; further adjusted the professional settings and curriculum system, reformed the teaching content and methods, and focused on cultivating students' practical and innovative abilities; made some useful attempts to improve students' comprehensive quality, enhance the pertinence of cadre training teaching, and highlight the characteristics of public security, and achieved certain results. Police delegations from Germany, Mongolia and other countries and Taiwan have visited and lectured at the school.
