Gansu Police Vocational College was founded in September 1949. It is a full-time police higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Education. It is under the leadership and management of the Gansu Provincial Public Security Department and is a high-quality higher vocational college in Gansu Province. The college currently has two campuses in Zuojiawan, Chengguan District, Lanzhou City and Weijiazhuang, Gaolan County, covering an area of nearly 2,000 acres and a school building area of more than 200,000 square meters. There are 15 on-campus training venues, 26 experimental training rooms and 55 off-campus teaching practice and internship bases, with a total value of 72.7057 million yuan in teaching equipment. The library has a collection of 658,000 books and 230,000 electronic books. There are 366 full-time teachers, including 112 with deputy senior professional and technical titles or above, 168 with postgraduate degrees, 28 teachers who have won provincial and ministerial honors and awards, and 7 teachers who enjoy Gansu high-level professional and technical talent subsidies. There are more than 6,470 full-time students, and an average of more than 16,000 on-duty police officers are trained annually. The college offers 10 public security majors and 15 general majors, of which 4 majors are key construction majors supported by the central government, national vocational education backbone majors, and provincial and ministerial key (characteristic, backbone, demonstration) majors, and 8 courses are national and provincial boutique (online) and demonstration courses. 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, 2 provincial vocational education demonstration training bases, 2 provincial vocational education master studios, and 5 provincial teaching teams. The college has successively won the titles of "Advanced Collective of Gansu Education System", "Advanced Unit of Gansu Vocational Education" and "Advanced Collective of Ideological and Political Work in Higher Education Institutions in Gansu Province". In 2020, it was rated as "Gansu Province High-quality Vocational College" by the Education Department, and in 2021 it was selected as a construction unit of "Gansu Province High-level Vocational School" (including 2 "double high" professional groups). The college has always adhered to the political construction of the police and the school, adhered to the school-running orientation of being based in Gansu, facing the northwest, based on public security, radiating politics and law, and based on the training of police professional talents and serving the national security strategy. It mainly trains professional talents for law enforcement and case handling police and professional talents for duty service. It takes the promotion of the reform of the talent recruitment and training system of public security colleges as the driving force, and takes the implementation of the deployment of the joint construction of the ministry and the province to promote the development of vocational education and create a "skilled Gansu" as the basis. It implements the three-in-one school-running model of academic education, public security scientific research, and on-the-job training, constantly improves the basic conditions for running schools, deepens education and teaching reforms, and improves the quality of talent training. In the 75 years since the school was established, it has trained and delivered more than 27,000 professional police talents for the public security, judicial, and security departments in the northwest and the whole country, and trained 140,000 public security police officers and in-service cadres in related industries. The vast majority of graduates have become leading cadres and backbone forces of public security organs at all levels in the province. The school-running level and school-management ability have gradually reached the forefront among vocational colleges in the province, becoming an important base for the training of specialized talents in public security and judicial organs in Gansu and the northwest and the main channel for supplementing the people's police.
