Guizhou Aerospace Vocational and Technical College was established in May 2000 by the former Guizhou Aerospace Staff University and the former Guizhou Aerospace Senior Technical School, which were established in 1976. It was approved by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government to merge and form the first batch of public higher vocational colleges in the province. It was originally affiliated to China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. In July 2014, it was approved by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government to add the name of Guizhou Aerospace Technician College, and in January 2021, it was transferred to the management of Zunyi Municipal People's Government. After more than 20 years of development, the college has become a higher vocational college integrating full-time academic education, technician training, adult education, social training, and professional skill level evaluation and appraisal. The college covers an area of 1,278 acres and a construction area of more than 410,000 square meters. It is distributed in three campuses: Xinpu University Town Campus, Yan'an Road Campus, and Xiazi Campus. There are 13,800 full-time higher vocational students and 565 faculty and staff, including 8 professors, 87 associate professors, and 62% of "double-qualified" teachers. The college has 4 provincial master studios, 2 municipal master studios, 3 provincial vocational teachers, and 2 provincial excellent teaching teams. Relying on the advantageous resources of aerospace and adhering to the excellent culture of aerospace, the college is mainly oriented to engineering, highlighting the key majors of machinery and electronics, and developing advantageous majors such as computer and management. There are 11 teaching and research institutions including the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Department of Automotive Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Construction Engineering Management, the Department of Economic Management, and the Department of Basic Sciences. There are 25 majors enrolled all year round, among which mold design and manufacturing and applied electronic technology are national key majors, electrical automation technology is a demonstration major of higher vocational education in Guizhou Province, automobile maintenance and inspection technology majors, construction engineering technology majors and software technology majors have been approved as provincial key majors for talent training quality improvement projects, and communication technology and software technology majors have been approved as provincial key majors for the "Prosperous Guizhou and Enriching the People" action plan. The college is a national demonstration site for employee education and training. It has built a demonstration base for the "Yu Lu Plan" of the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office, a national high-skilled talent training base, a Guizhou Aerospace Senior Technician Training Center, a Guizhou Aerospace Safety Technology Training Center, a Guizhou Electromechanical Technology High-skilled Talent Training Base, a Guizhou Electromechanical Integration Open Training Base, a Guizhou Manufacturing Industry Informatization Training Base, and a Guizhou Military Vocational Skills Training Base. The college has established long-term cooperative relations with the Tenth Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Guihang Group, and many large and medium-sized enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, creating good conditions for students' practical training and employment. The implementation rate of higher vocational graduates has been maintained at more than 95% for a long time, and a total of more than 50,000 technical and skilled talents have been trained, making positive contributions to my country's national defense and local economic and social development. The college insists on taking the path of connotation development, deepening the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, highlighting the cultivation of practical ability, and is committed to cultivating highly skilled talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor who are "politically qualified, familiar with management, solid in professionalism, and skilled", so as to enable every student to have a skill. The college has advanced educational philosophy, distinctive aerospace characteristics, unique location advantages, and fruitful educational achievements. It has embarked on a path of running schools with aerospace characteristics, strengthening schools with connotation development, and leading schools with innovation. The school-running level and quality have been widely praised by all sectors of society. The college has successively won honors such as the National Advanced Unit of Adult Higher Education, the "Five Good" Grassroots Party Organization in the National Defense System of Guizhou Province, the Provincial Outstanding Unit for Ideological and Political Education in Higher Vocational Colleges, and the Best Organization Award for Teaching Ability Competition in the Guizhou Vocational College Skills Competition. In 2022, it was rated as an advanced unit for employment of college graduates in Guizhou Province. In 2021 and 2022, it was rated as an advanced unit of "Qian Zheng Star" in Guizhou Province for two consecutive years. In 2023, it was rated as an excellent organizing unit for the special action of "Duxing Plan" for rural revitalization of the "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice activities of college and technical secondary school students, the tenth batch of national ethnic unity and progress demonstration schools, and the second batch of pilot schools for the construction of national school emergency education. In April 2024, it was awarded the Zunyi City May 1st Labor Award.
