Guangxi Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College is a state-owned, full-time general higher vocational college. The school was born in industrial production, established in the machinery industry, and strengthened with intelligent manufacturing. It has always shared weal and woe with the machinery industry, forming a distinct industry-run school-running feature. It is the oldest, most comprehensive and largest higher vocational college in Guangxi's equipment manufacturing industry. It is affiliated to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The school was formerly the Guangxi First Mechanical Industry School (Mechanical) and the Guangxi Second Mechanical Industry School (Motor), which were founded in 1958. The two schools merged in 1959 to form the Guangxi Mechanical Industry School; in 1999, it was upgraded to a general higher vocational and technical college with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The school is a national backbone higher vocational college, a national high-quality junior college, a national high-level backbone vocational college serving advanced manufacturing in the machinery industry, a high-level higher vocational school in Guangxi, an advanced unit of vocational education in Guangxi, and the first batch of pilot units for the joint training reform of high-end application-oriented undergraduate talents in Guangxi. The school is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, the "Green City of China", covering an area of 776 acres and a construction area of nearly 600,000 square meters; the total assets are 980 million yuan, of which the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 400 million yuan, and the library has more than 1.8 million books.
