China University of Metrology is an institution of higher learning with metrology, standards, quality, market supervision and inspection and quarantine as its characteristics. The predecessor of the school was the Hangzhou Metrology School founded by the State General Administration of Metrology in 1978. It was upgraded to the China Institute of Metrology in 1985 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was renamed China University of Metrology. In 2019, it became a university jointly built by Zhejiang Province and the State Administration for Market Regulation and a key university in Zhejiang Province. In 2021, after review by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the school was successfully approved as a doctoral degree-granting institution. In 2023, it was successfully approved as two postdoctoral research mobile stations in instrument science and technology and optical engineering. The school has 2 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 15 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 11 master's professional degree authorization points. There are 9 first-class disciplines in Zhejiang Province and 4 disciplines ranked in the top 1% of ESI globally. There are 18 national first-class majors, 4 national characteristic majors, and 1 national comprehensive reform pilot major; 24 provincial first-class majors, 7 provincial advantage majors, 12 provincial characteristic majors, and 5 majors in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. There are 14 national first-class courses, 7 national quality courses, national quality resource sharing courses, and national bilingual teaching demonstration courses; there are 145 first-class courses in Zhejiang Province and 22 provincial quality courses. There is 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, and 14 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. There is 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone, 1 national demonstration engineering professional degree graduate joint training base, and 7 provincial joint training bases. The school has 19 colleges (departments, centers), with more than 18,000 full-time undergraduates, more than 5,100 graduate students, and nearly 500 international students. There are nearly 1,500 full-time teachers, including more than 700 teachers with senior professional titles and nearly 1,200 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, more than 20 national talents such as the National "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" and the Yangtze River Scholars, and more than 80 provincial and ministerial talents such as Zhejiang Provincial Special Experts and Zhejiang Provincial "Ten Thousand Talents Plan". There is one Huang Danian-style teacher team in national universities, one national teaching team, one Huang Danian-style teacher team in Zhejiang universities, 6 provincial and ministerial teaching teams, and 8 provincial high-level research teams. Won the world's first and only "ISO Standardization Higher Education Award" and 43 national and provincial teaching achievement awards. The university currently has more than 40 scientific research platforms at the provincial and ministerial level, including the National Quality Inspection Center, the Key Laboratory of the State Administration for Market Regulation, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, the Zhejiang International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, the Zhejiang Key Laboratory, the Zhejiang Engineering Laboratory (Engineering Research Center), the Zhejiang New (University) Think Tank, and the Zhejiang 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, and 35 high-level research institutes. As a major unit, it participates in the cultivation and construction of the national major scientific and technological infrastructure of "Ultra-High Sensitivity and Extremely Weak Magnetic Field and Inertial Measurement Device". It has won three second prizes in the National Science and Technology Award and more than 100 provincial and ministerial awards. The National University Science and Technology Park was rated as the Zhejiang Provincial Academician Workstation in 2022. The school was selected as one of the "Top 50 Universities with Typical Experience in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in China", "Zhejiang Provincial Ordinary College Demonstration Entrepreneurship College", "National Intellectual Property Pilot University", and "Zhejiang Province Deepening the Comprehensive Pilot University for Education Evaluation Reform in the New Era". In the past five years, the rate of undergraduate graduates' employment has been ranked among the top five key universities in the province. Students won the special prize of the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition and Entrepreneurship Plan Competition, the gold medal of the China "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the mathematical modeling competition has been ranked among the top in the country and the first in Zhejiang for many years. The school won the first prize for outstanding achievements in campus culture construction in colleges and universities across the country. The original large-scale music and dance epic "Thousands of Years of Measurement" won the Ministry of Education's "Respect for China's Excellent Traditional Culture" Feature Exhibition Project. It has established high-level industry talent training bases such as the National Innovation Talent Training Demonstration Base, the National Metrology Rule of Law Research Base, the ISO International Standardization Training Base (Hangzhou), and the International Standardization Talent Training Base. It conducts metrology, standards, and quality professional talent training for industry organizations, with a total of more than 40,000 trainees. The school adheres to open education, deeply connects with the State Administration for Market Regulation and its directly affiliated units, and local market supervision and management departments, actively undertakes the secretariat of the National Metrology Strategic Advisory Committee, and carries out strategic cooperation with the China Institute of Metrology, Zhejiang Provincial Market Supervision Administration, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce, Zhejiang Provincial Emergency Management Department, Ningxia Market Supervision and Management Department, etc. It has 11 local research institutes, 21 local technology transfer institutions, and 30 industrial technology alliances. It has been selected as one of the top 100 universities in China for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements (third in Zhejiang). As the leading unit, it has jointly initiated the establishment of the "Yangtze River Delta High-level Industry-specific University Alliance" with 13 universities. The school continues to expand international exchanges and cooperation, establishes cooperation with more than 50 foreign universities and research institutions, and organizes 2 Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate education programs and 1 master's education program. It has established the Confucius Institute of Prague University of Finance and Management, Zhejiang-Czech Prague Silk Road Institute, Zhejiang-Czech Cultural Exchange Center, and Central and Eastern European Research Institute. It took the lead in establishing the world's first "Belt and Road" standardized education and research university alliance, with 118 universities from 36 countries and regions joining, and established the "Belt and Road" College.
