Taiyuan City Vocational and Technical College is a full-time higher vocational college organized by the Taiyuan Municipal People's Government. In 2003, with the approval of the provincial government, it was established by merging the former Taiyuan Economic Management Cadre College, Taiyuan City Urban Construction School, and Taiyuan City Industrial Economics School. The original three schools were all established in 1984. The college currently has three campuses: Xinghua Street, Yingxin Street, and Jianshe Road. The main campus is located at No. 3 Xinghua Street, Shengli Bridge West, Taiyuan City. The Yingxin Street campus is located at No. 76 Xinlan Road, Yingxin Street, Jiancaoping District, and the Jianshe Road campus is located at No. 15 Jianshe South Road, South of the Railway Station. It covers a total area of 227 acres and currently has more than 9,000 students. There are 421 faculty and staff, including 314 full-time teachers, 75 associate professors or above, 140 intermediate titles, and 209 "double-qualified" teachers, accounting for 66.5% of the total number of teachers. There are 250 faculty and staff with a master's degree or above, including 6 doctors. The "Taiyuan Li Yan Master Studio" has been established, and a total of 181 technical experts, skilled craftsmen, and industry mentors have been hired from the society. The college closely connects with the needs of the provincial and municipal economy and industrial structure, actively adapts to the new pattern of integrated development of the central urban agglomeration in Shanxi, and dynamically adjusts the professional settings. There are currently 33 majors, including the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Engineering Economics, the Department of Urban Construction, the Department of Management Engineering, the Department of Art Design, the Department of Accounting, the Basic Teaching Department (Quality Education College), the Department of Ideological Teaching (Department of Ideological and Political Education), the Department of Adult Education (School of Continuing Education), and the Technical Secondary School Department (Industrial College). 7 departments and 4 departments have formed the five major professional groups of modern equipment manufacturing, modern information technology, modern architecture, modern services and urban rail transit that are adapted to the provincial and municipal economy, have distinct professional characteristics, and are mutually integrated and supported, directly serving the emerging strategic industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, information creation industry, and high-end service industry in Taiyuan. There are 11 high-level backbone majors and productive training bases, and 82 training rooms for related professional groups such as construction engineering, manufacturing, computer information, management, and rail transit. In the 40 years since its establishment, the college has adhered to the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people, and has trained more than 54,000 full-time graduates and more than 33,000 in-service cadres and employees for Taiyuan City. The college adheres to the integrated school-running policy of "enrollment-training-employment", and the average employment rate in the past three years has exceeded 90%. Graduates are mainly employed in construction, transportation, service industry, information technology application innovation, and big data industries. The party members' congress of the college clarified the goal of achieving "1,000 acres and 10,000 people" by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", and drew a grand blueprint for high-quality development: building a high-level vocational college with distinctive characteristics, creating a high-level comprehensive vocational undergraduate university rooted in the north of Bingzhou, covering an area of 1,000 acres, with 20,000 students, and focusing on engineering, to provide solid support for high-quality technical and skilled talents for the comprehensive reproduction of the grand scene of "Splendid Taiyuan City".
